The meeting was then called to order by the president, Mr* Arthur Beeler The Rev C. E Lykin* of the Church of the Na/arene waa in charge of the devotions In the absence of the Rev. Gerald Gerlg It was announced that the Cuba. Brownie*, and Scouts of the Northwest school will prepare a special founder's dag program for the February meeting The program was then turned ever to Mrs Robert Christen, who introduced the guest speaker. Linn related how the center grew from the dreams of students in 1948 and IM9 into the fine and functional building it is today. He gave detailed statistics pertaining to the growth of the center and described some of the projects planned for the future. One of the largest and most elaborate exhibits ever to be held in Decatur, he revealed, will be one shown during the Indiana rural letter carriers convention early this summer. Linn concluded his talk by pointing out that the Center belongs to each and every one and urged all to take advantage of its many facilities. *• The meeting closed with the singing of "Goodnight Ladies”. AUXILIARY MEMBERS AT 4TH DISTRICT MEETING Several members of the American Legion Auxiliary 43 attended the recent fourth district auxiliary meeting at Unit 82 in Fort Wayne. Those attending were Mrs. T. C. Smith. Mrs. Melvin Luhman. Mrs. Ed Bauer. Mrs. James Baker. Mrs. Tillman Gehrig. Mrs. Frank Bohnke. Mrs. Lloyd Bowman, Mrs. Herman Colchin. Mrs. Howard Eley, and Mrs. R. C. Hersh. The auxiliary will hold a social meeting Friday at 8 p.m. at the Legion home. There will be a jewelry party the first part of the evening, with cards and lunch following. Members are asked to bring guests. JUNIOR ARTS GIVE PROGRAM AT WOMAN’S CLUB MEETING The Juniors Arts Department of the Decatur Woman’s club was in charge of the program for the general meeting held Monday evening at the Decatur Youth and Community Center. The meeting was called to order by Mrs. R. C. Hersh, president. Mrs. B. G. Thomas led the devotions. Mrs. Hersh announced the state federation mid-Winter council meeting to be held February 1 and 2 at the Lincoln Sheridan Hotel in Indianapolis. She then read a new year resolution stressing the fact that today is more important than yesterday and tomorrow. Miss Bertha Heller, chairman of the nominating committee, read the slate of officers nominated to fill a two-year term, which were then voted on by the general body. The new officers are as follows: Mrs. Leo Curtin, president; Mrs. Reid Erekson, first vice president; Miss Frances Dugan, second vice president; Mrs. Harry Dailey, secretary; Mrs. Lloyd Cowens, treasurer. Raymond McDougal gave the prayer. Mrs. John Kiess, out going president, presided over the first part of the meeting, and in turn introduced the new president. Mrs. Norman Kruse. Yearly reports of the various committees were heard, and new committees for the coming year were announced. Important business of the day included the apportioning of money earned in 1959 th various funds and charities. Mrs. Paul Busse. Sr., won the attendance prize, and the contest during the social hour was won by Mrs. Louis Jacobs and Mrs. Paul Busse. Locals The Christian Companion class of the Trinity E.U.B. church spent Saturday evening at the Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne, where they attended the Komet hockey game. Approximately. 30 members were present. *' The Rev. and Mrs. W. L. Burner have returned to their home at 422 Stratton Way after completing four months of service at the First Christian church in Muskegon, Mich. Rev. Burner served as interim minister there until a new pastor could be called and installed. Pierce Harnish, of Bluffton, father of Mrs. Fred Corah of Decatur, writes from Phoenix, Ariz., that it has been raining so often out there that the cotton crop may not be. harvested. Four Whitley county youths, 16 and 17 years of age, including one girl, have been arrested and charged with shooting out 37 street lights in Columbia City last Saturday.

St. John’s Lutheran church of Celina, 0., will try to raise $250,000 pver a three-year period in order to begin building a new church. Attorney D. Burdette Custer of Decatur, who is a reserve air force colonel, reported a rough trip from Denver, Colo., to Indianapolis Sunday, returning from a business trip there. Col. Custer is in the purchasing contracts division of the Chicago reserve headquarters. The C-119 on which he was a passenger was unable to stop as scheduled in Nebraska or lowa, and finally landed in Indianapolis. Temperatures crawled into the teens above zero in midmorning as a wave of cold air rolled into the state and threatened to send the mercury near zero tonight. Just - before - noon temperature readings included 16 at Goshen and Chicago. 18 at at Terre Haute, 21 -at Fort Wayne and Indianapolis, 24 at South Bend and Evansville. 26 at Louisville and 27 at Cincinnati. Snow was reported throughout j the state most of the morning. But lit was mostly in very light flurries, buffeted by gusty winds up Ito more than 30 miles per hour. The snow was enough to create scattered highway hazards. But the situation generally was nothing to compare with snowstorms upstate Indiana normally experiences frequently in the average winter. Snow to a depth of four or more inches plagued the area, creating . road hazards which state highway

Wednesday highs will be in the low 20s, and Thursday will be continued cold, the weatherman said. Wind gusts added to the wintry setting. Wind velocity ranged from 14 at Evansvile to 23 at Lafayette, with gusts up to 35 miles per hour at Fort Wayne.

A king and queen contest will be held’ with each county represented by a king and queen contestant. Other announcements included state rural youth day to be held January 28 at Purdue University and the state spring tour to New Orleans March 6-12. The educational feature of the evening was questions and answers nn parliamentary procedure which included slides showing proper procedure. Mixers and recreation for the meeting were led by the district recreation committee under the guidance of Dick Tomkinsdn, Purdue. Carolyn Moore represented Adams county on this committee. Rural youth members attending were: Gloria Koeneman, Delores Rodenbeck, Ted Kipfer. Carolyn Moore, Legora Markle. Sally McCullough. and Leslie Ploughe.
