enjoyable holiday season. —M.H.S. — The days immediately proceding Christmas were filled with activity for the MHS students These activities included: a special assembly featuring Charles Ramsden, a : unique musician..the student counI cil Christmas program, a danee following the Bryant game, ahd various class parties. *£ s< ‘ —M.H.S.— Speaking of baske tb -a 11, the Eagles won their first game by defeating the Bryant Owls, December 18. Needless to say, the team and the fans were thrilled by this one-point victory . The second team was also victorious. —M.H.S.— The following Tuesday was another story. The Monmouth five' lost to Decatur Catholic by a onepoint margin. of this type can be called a “heartbreaker” or a "thriller.’’; and the Tuesday night game can ht into this same category. — . —M.H.S.— During vacation the school received an extra cleaning: floors were waxed, and steps were painted. New lights were also installed in the home ec. room. This all helps to improve the appearance of the school. ' —M.H.S.— Friday evening the Monmouth Eagles will try for another win when they oppose the Geneva Cardinals at Geneva. Everyone seemed to be having a “swell” time. , —D.H.S.— Congratulations to the Yellow Jackets for defeating the Portland Panthers in the holiday tourney at Portland. Be sure to follow the Jackets to New Haven Friday night! Good luck, team! —D.H.S.— Congratulations also to the cheerleaders and the cheering section for the fine job of backing the team. Mr. Bevelhimer was well pleased with the fine support. —D.H.S.— ' Ken Eliasson, a former exchange student of D.H.S., is now playing on his school basketball team that has reached the semi-finals in the Swedish national basketball tournament. Ken is in hopes that his school will win the tournament because the winning team will apoear on television in Sweden. —D.H.S.— Several people received Christmas greetings from Ken and Peter Friederici,. the former exchange student from Ger ma n Terry Strprh, the present exchange student from Norway, enjoyed the American Christmas very much, but said it was quite different from those in Norway because the Norwegian .Celebrations are much more traditional. ’ J —D.H.S.The test scores of-the preliminary scholastic aptitude tests were received and distributed Tuesday afternoon to those seniors who took the examination. —D.H.S.— Preliminary plans are being made for a senior parents’ night to be held sometime in March.
