Larry DeWayne Bittner, 20, of route 2, Decatur, will appear in city court to answer charges of failing to yield the right of way in the mishap. The Bittner car reportedly ran the "yield” sign, striking the westbound truck driven by James E. Karber of Fort Wayne. The Bittner car, southbound on Ninth, then went out of control, police said, crashing into the parked car owned by Laun Richard Miller, of 210 S. Ninth street. 56 Peru Employes Axed By New Mayor PERU, Ind. (UPD—Members of a municipal employes union have threatened to strike against the city of Peru over the discharge of 56 persons in a city administrative change. Mayor-elect S. G. Cox, a Republican who takes office Friday, dismissed 56 employes who served in the administration of Mayor John Devine, a Democrat whose term ends today. Local 1030 of the Municipal Employes Union announced that the majority of members attending a meeting Tuesday night voted to strike unless the 56 were reinstated and the union were recognized. “If the city persists in ignoring the union contract or agreement the city employes of the streets, parks and all utilities will strike.” a prepared statement issued by the union said.
