' Jaclc Godfroy and Mike Dillon, a pair of small, clever and deadly shooting guards, sunk the Decatur Commodores Wednesday night as the Huntington Catholic Ramblers rolled to a 74-60 victory at the Decatur gym. Godfrey and Dillon poured in 43 points to pace the Huntington triumph, a total which Don Baker’s Decatur’s one-man gang, could not match with his 22 points. Tom Gross hit the game’s first shot, his only field goal of the contest, to put the Commodores out in front. The Ramblers took the lead at 7-6 on Dick Scheiber’s pair of free throws after three and onehalf minutes. The score was tied at 9-9 ahd 11-11, but Huntington then went out in front again and the Commodores never got back into the lead. Huntington held a 25-18 advantage at the first quarter, and boosted its bulge..4o 46-31 at the half, with Godfrey and Dillon accounting for 28 of the markers. The Commodores battled back in the third period, finally shaving ! their deficit to only six points, 5650, after five minutes had elapsed, but the Ramblers again took com- ' mand and built their margin up to 13 points, 65-52, at the end of the period. Godfrey topped the winners with 22 points, closely trailed by his running mate Dillon, who tallied 21. Bob Briggs had 12 points and Scheiber 10. Don Baker paced the Commodores with 22 points, all on field goals, as he did not have a free throw opportunity. Only other Commodore in double figures was Jifn Omlor with 13 markers. Hunt-

Unrestricted Draft Rule To Be Continued ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (UPD — The minor leagues, as eager as the majors to curb lavish bonus payments to untried youngsters, today were expected to vote in favor of continuing the unrestricted draft rule, possibly with an amendment sponsored by the Los Angeles Dodgers. Among the amendments likely to be voted down by the minors in the final session before the winter baseball meetings shift to Miami Beach were a restoration of the bonus rule and a footballtype draft. Today’s vote of the minor leagues will be simply a recommendation for next week’s consideration by the majors. There have been many occasions when the majors ignored the sentiments of the minors. But most baseball men feel that the unrestricted draft rule in effect this year for the first time could become a much more effective means of discouraging sky’s-the - limit bonus payments than the bonus rules which failed in past years. “The best way to do away with these large bonus payments is to afect the clubs’ player limits,” said one National League oficial. “You can’t do it by hitting at their purses or by punishing them” This year's draft rule provided that any first-year player not promoted to the parent club’s roste was subject to the Unestricted draf. Most clubs proteced their big investments by putting their bonus babies on a major league roster even though they may only have been of Class D caliber. Others left thehi in the minors and gambled they would not be drafted.
