Gerald Durkin, county first aid chairman; Miss Lois M. Folk, county home agent; Mrs. Roger Singleton, Dr. Joseph E. Morris, and Walter Stoppenhagen, of Decatur, and Roy N. GilUom and Iris Lehman of Bierne, have been approved for first aid certificates. AR have been conducting classes in the county. Stoppenhagen wUI conduct an advanced course in first aid at Geneva starting January 13. There are already 12 signed up for the course. Firemen, sheriffs deputies, and others who have completed the basic course are eligible for the advanced course. Ned Bixler and Paul Bixler, of Berne, have been approved for ■water safety certificates. The Red Cross-sponsored classes train local people to be ready for any possible local emergencies or disasters, it was pointed out. Auto Is Demolished Wednesday Afternoon State and sheriff’s police reported that a 1951 Henry J. Kaiser automobile was demolished when it struck an I & M light pole on state road 101 and the Piqua road Wednesday at 4:10 p.m. Frank Dean Fortney, 48. of Pleasant MiUs, told police that he tried to avoid another car at the intersection, and in the process lost control of his vehicle, striking the light pole and wrecking his car. The other car was driven by Walter W. Koos, of route 3, Decatur. Damage to the light pole caused a power failure to several patrons along that line, but repair rectified the damage shortly after the mishap. No one was injured.
