ELLIOTTS TO CELEBRATE SILVER WEDDING SUNDAY Mr. and Mrs. Carl Elliott, 311 North First street, observed their 25th wedding anniversary today and will celebrate the occasion Sunday with a family dinner and an open house from iwo to five o'clock. The Elliotts were married December 3, 1934, at the Baptist parsonage in Decatur, by the Rev. A. B. Brown. They have six children, Helen, Carl, Jr., Max, and James, all at home, and Mrs. Phyllis Brunner of Decatur, and Mrs. Beverly Riley, of Upland, one HOD FRI. & SAT. DECATUR WEIGHT WATCHERS ELECT NEW OFFICERS Mrs. Helen Baughn entertained the members of the Decatur Weight Watchers club in her home Tuesday evening for their annual Christmas party. Marcela Hill, leader, presided over the group at the business meeting and roll call was taken by each member weighing in. Following the business meeting, the officers for the coming year were elected. Mildred Smith will be the new leader, with Marjorie Gilliom as her co-leader. Vivian McCammon will take over the duties of treasurer and Ramona Brown will assume the office of secretary. The installation of new officers will be held the first Tuesday in January. Ater the election, the members played games and prizes were awarded. Mrs. Gladys Darr was winner of the door prize. Refreshments were served from a table decorated with Christmas place mats and tree candles. The members then exchanged gifts to conclude the meeting. Mrs. Baughn, Mrs. Mildred Smith, and Mrs. Jerry Sprunger were the hostesses. HISTORICAL CLUB HOLDS MEETING Mrs. Wesley Lehman was hostes to 17 members and one guest of the Historical club for their regular, meeting Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. Hersel Nash opened the meeting and roll call was answered f with quotations. Mrs. Clara Passwater called for current events and followed with a paper on Hawaii. During the social hour the hostess served refreshments in keeping with the Christmas theme. TRI KAPPA MEMBERS HOLD BUSINESS MEETING Tri Kappa conducted a regular business meeting Tuesday evening at the Decatur Youth and ■ Community Center. Mrs. Robert Worthman, president of the sorority, was in charge of the meeting. Checks of various amounts were sent to the following organizations: Goodfellows—
SSO; Tuberculosis—slo; Decatur Community fund drive—s7s. It was announced that Mrs. William Snyder collected gifts for the mental , health drive and that the pecans, which the Tri Kappa sell as their Christmas project, have arrived. The Christmas party will be held Wednesday, December 9, at 6:30 p.m. Members are to call Mrs. , Ralph Bollinger for reservations. Locals Mrs. Charles Ehinger was ad- , mitted today to the St. Joseph hospital, Fort Wayne. She will undergo dental surgery Friday. Mr’, and Mrs. Carl Gerber and daughter, Susan, returned Wednesday evening from Lake Mills., where Susan took ill while visiting her sister and brother-in-law, Mr. , and Mrs. John Suter. Her condition is reported improved. Births Lorenzo and Elizabeth Cortez Esparza, 834 N. 12th, are parents of a seven pound, 1014 ounce son, born at 1:34 p.m. Wednesday. A boy, weighing six pounds, two ounces was born at 8:04 p.m. Wednesday to William and Shirley Youse North, Hoagland. Wednesday evening at 9:06, a girl weighing seven pounds, 12 ounces was born to David and Audrey Whitehurst Nussbaum, Berne. Jose and Santiag Guerra, 715 Schirmeyer, became parents of a boy weighing seven pounds, 1214 ounces at 1:22 a.m. today. Ronald and Sondra Binegar Dynes, Geneva, are parents of a weighing six pounds, 11 ounces, born at 1:25 this morning. This morning at 6:36, a son was born to Eli and Mary Ellen Spyunger Beer, Portland. The infant weighed six pounds, 13% ounces. Calvin and Do.rrthy Combs Wolfe, Pleasant Mills, are parents of a daughter weighing seven pounds, five ounces, born at 10:52 a m. today. Monroe Bov Scouts To Collect Paper Troop 72 of the Monroe Boy Scouts will hold their monthly paper and magazine drive Saturday morning. Harry Walters Dies Suddenly Wednesday Mrs. D. J. Barkley of this city has received word of the sudden 1 death of her cousin, Harry Wai- j ters, who died of a heart attack Wednesday night at his home ini South Bend. He was a native of; Fort Wayne.
