Quiet Thanksgiving Day In Washington WASHINGTON (UPD—Thanksgiving Day will be a “quiet day at home’’ for most of official Washington—with cranberries on the menu along with the turkey. With most Washington stores now offering cranberries found free of contamination by the wedd killer aminotriazole, most of the uncertainty has disappeared oyer whether to serve the traditional Thanksgiving item. Mrs. Arthur S. Flemming, wife of the man who caused all the cranberry fuss, is delighted that the government - industry clearance program will permit her to serve cranberries to her husband and four children on Thusday. "I happen to love cranberries,’ explained the wife of the secretary of health, education and welfare. Also choosing a quiet family dinner at home are President and Mrs. Eisenhower; Defense Secretary and Mrs. Neil McElroy; Treasury Secretary and Mrs. Robert Anderson; Agriculture Secretary and Mrs. Ezra T.’ Benson; and Labor Secretary and Mrs- James P— Mitchell. The Eisenhowers ori g i n a 11J., planned to spend Thanksgiving at their Gettysburg farm. But planning for the President’s Dec. 3 departure on his Europe-Asia-AL rica trip will keep him in Washington. Girl Scouts Troop 229 met Tuesday after school at their leader’s home. They packed treats of assorted cookies and took them to the County home. While there, they sang songs. Scribe, Nora Lea Brown Brownie troop 551 met Tuesday at the Lincoln school. The meeting was opened with the Brownie Promise. Money was turned in for calendars and turkeys were completed for Thanksgiving. Nancy Swickard treated the troop. Scribe, Elaine Bowman
