Mrs. Howard Eley presented the health and safety lesson. , Mrs. Henry Adler, song leader, j gave a history of the song of the month and led the group in singing it. u Mrs. Hunter presided during the business meeting and announced that the officers' training school will be held in the Youth and Community Center December 1. The Christmas dinner for the club will I be December 16 at the C. L. of C. I hall, with a 50 cent gift exchange, j Mrs. Noah Habegger of Berne will install the new officers at this , meeting. The club voted a $2 donation to the mental health program. The i members closed the meeting by repeating the club collect. During the j social hour, refreshments were I served by the hostesses, Mrs. I Frank Crist, Mrs. Ralph E. Roop, 1 Mrs. Oran Schultz, and Miss Ivy Gilpin. PYTHIAN SISTERS CLUB HOLD LUNCHEON MEETING Twenty-two members of the Pyi thian Sisters Needle club answered I roll call at a recent meeting held ’ at the Moose home after Temple", j Luncheon was served from a table i decorated in keeping with the Thanksgiving theme. Games were played and prizes awarded the winners. Mrs. Ed Ashbaucher, Mrs. Albert Fruchte, I and Miss Matilda Sellemeyer were the hostesses. Officers for the coming year will be: Mrs. Cecil Gouse, president; Mrs. Cletus Schnepp, vice president; Mrs. Frank Crist, secretary; and Mrs. -Hersel Nash, treasurer. A Christmas dinner will be held December 14 at 6:30 p.m. at the Moose home.
y WRFiiJHb b L’> I Mi Chapmans Will Hold Open House MR. AND MRS. JAY W. CHAPMAN will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception and open house from 2 to 4 p. m. Saturday. The Chapmans have lived on their present farm, four miles south of Decatur, for 11 years./Mr. Chapman, who is 89 years old, was active in farm work until /three years ago, when he retired due to ill health. Mr and Mrs. Chapman are members of the Methodist church of Decatur, and the Farm Bureau of St. Mary’s township. They have 10 living children, 27 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
A program and 50 cent gift ex-1 change are planned for the, meeting. Reservations should be made with Mrs. Hunter by December 12. Mrs. Byron Smith and Mrs. Frances Howard were welcomed as new members into the club. CELEBRATE SIXTH BIRTHDAY TUESDAY Kathryn Marie Frauhiger, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Frauhiger, celebrated her sixth birthday Tuesday evening with a supper party. Thbse attending were: Marna Borror, Diane Speigel, Sara Jayne Frauhiger, Rita Deborah, and Cynthia Shannon. Prizes for games were awarded to Marna Borror and Cynthia Shannon. All the children were given candy and balloons. PREBLE DEMONSTRATION CLUB MEETS TUESDAY Mrs. Ralph Mankey and Mrs. William Kruetzman served - as hostesses for the Preble Sunny Circle home demonstration club meeting held Tuesday evening at the Preble township recreation center. The meeting was called to order by the president, Mrs. Erwin Buuck. Mrs. Elmer Peters pre-| sented the history of the song of I the month “For the Beauty of the Earth,” after which the 20 members sang the song. The following announcements were made: officers’ training school December 1 at the Decatur Youth and Community Center and the club Christmas •party to be held December 22 at 6 p.m. at the home of the president. A lesson on juvenile delinquency was given by Mrs. Clara Fuhrman. Happy birthday was suhg to the members having birthdays In November. Mrs. William Kruetzman presented devotions. Various contests were played and jjrizes.won bv Mrs. Milton Kruetzman, Mrs. Elmer Peters and Mrs. Erwin Buuck. The Rainbow Girls will sponsor a dance Friday evening at the Youth and Community Center. Joe McNerry will spin records from 8 to 11:30 p.m. Dress will be semiformal and tickets will sell for 25 cents singles and 45 cents per couple..
St. Mary’s chorus rehearsal will be held Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at the K. of C. hall. Locals Mrs. John Heller left Tuesday for West Palm Beach, Fla., where she plans to spend the Thanksgiving and Christinas holidays with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. John Shirk, and amily. Judge and Mrs. G. Remy Bierly were among the spectators last Saturday at the Indiana-Purdue Old Oaken Bucket game. The Robert Bubbs will have as their Thanksgiving Day guests Mrs. Bubb’s father, Forrest T. Miller, and her sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Breckenridge. A cousin, Ricky Schelter, will be a house guest for ten days. Mr. and Mrs. Watson Maddox and family will motor to Jacksonville, 111., to spend the holiday with relatives. Gary Erekson, a graduate student at Harvard University, will spend Thanksgiving with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Reid Erekson. Additional hbliday guests will be their daughter and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Roger Schnepf, of Valparaiso. Mr. and Mrs. August Kelly will share Thanksgiving dinner with relatives in Columbia City. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Maddox will entertain their two daughters and husbands, Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Girod, Fort Wayne, and Mr. and Mrs. Harris Rouger, Cincinnati, Thanksgiving Day.
