(UPI) — A 29-year-old housewife killed herself and her two small -children with poison Tuesday night apparently because she was despondent over a difference of religion within the family, police reported. Mrs. Marion Spillman mixed formaldehyde with water and fed it to her daughter Robin, 4, and ison Neal, 8 months, and then drank the deadly solution herself, said Capt. Jack C. Martin. She had just been released last week from a sanitarium where she 4 had been under treatment for a mental disorder, her husband Jack said. Spillman told police his wife had been despondent since she was disowned by her parents three years ago because she came from a Catholic family and he was a Jew.

The Swedish-born man was captured in Mexico after hitchhiking aimlessly for eight days. He was to be returned to California today to face a murder charge in the death of Mrs. Lillian Lenorak. Zeppen-Field’s attorney, Dwain Clark, pointed out to reporters that Zeppen-Field’s “psychiatric background” might be involved in the case. He said Zeppen-F ie 1 d had "some problems” while serving in the Navy. The young man also had a juvenile arrest record in Palm Springs where he lived with his mother —a former Swedish Olympic swimming champion and owner of a Palm Springs motel. He was arrested three times as a runaway and once on a disturbing the peace charge. Zeppen-Field was linked to Mrs. Lenorak’s death by one of her fingernails which was found in a car he had used. Blood was found in the auto. Police also said handcarved grips to a cut-down .22-
