Marjorie Lou Becher Becomes Bride Saturday
Miss Marjorie Lou Becher and Robert Darrell Lobsiger were united in marriage Saturday at the Zion Lutheran church. The Rev. W. E. Byers, officiated, assisted by the Rev. Stuart Brightwell. Bronze and white mums adorned the altar and groups of palms and ferns completed the setting. Mrs. Clara Becher and the late Raymond O. Becher are parents of the bride. Lobsiger is the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Noble Lobsiger. The bride wore a gown of imported Chantilly lace and nylon

tulle over crystal white taffeta. The fitted lace bodice was fashioned with a scalloped Sabrina neckline, sprinkled with irrdescent sequins and seed pearls. The bouffant nylon tulle floor-length skirt was highlighted by a wide scalloped lace panel front and back with three side panels of lace. Her fingertip length veil of imported French illusion was caught to a matching lace pillbox sprinkled with irresdescent sequins and she carried a white Bible topped with an orchid. Mrs. James Lobsiger was maid of honor. Miss Ruth Sipe served as bridesmaid and junior bridesmaid was Cheryle Lobsiger. AU the attendants were attired in gowns of emerald green velveteen and taffeta. The bodices featured scoop necklines and cap sleeves. Crushed taffeta formed the cummerbunds with a large back bow and streamers flowing over the bouffant waltz-length taffeta skirts. Pearl trimming highlighted their emerald green head bands. AU three carried Colonial bouquets of bronze and white pompoms. Dennis Lobsiger served as his brother s best man and ushers were Raymond Becher, Jr., Eddie Marbaugh, Paul Longsworth, and Lester Haines. The bride’s mother chose a brown dress, to which was pinned a corsage of yeHow roses. Mrs. Lobsiger, attired in a light blue lace £jress, selected black accessories and a corsage of yellow roses also. Immediately foUowing -the ceremony, the newlyweds greeted 150 guests in the church parlor. Serving at the reception were the Misses Susie Longsworth, Pauline Lobsiger, Nancy Bollenbacher, Marie Lehman, Pat Bauserman, Shirley Neuenschwander, and Ruth Gottschalk. When the couple left for their wedding trip, the bride was wearing a BMe sheer dress and matching hat with black accessories. The orchid;) from her bridal bouquet formed her corsage. The new Mrs. Lobsiger graduated from Adams -Central 'nigh school and is presently emjflqyed by the First Bank of groom, a graduate of Decatur high school, is a student at Purdue University. THOMAS SPEAKS TO CHURCH WOMEN The Decatur council of United Church Women met Friday evening at the First Baptist church to ■ observe world community day.' Mrs. Warren Lehman was the' leader. Mrs. Paul Daniels, Mrs. John J Rosier, Mrs. Norman Koons, Mrs. I Eddie Anderson, and Mrs. Harmon Kraft of the First Christian church represented different women of the 1 world and explained their needs. ' Mrs. Lehman directed silent prayer. After the scripture reading, Mrs.| Lehman introduced the Rev. B. G. Thomas, pastor of the Bethany i Evangelical United Brethren church, who spoke on the theme, “Full Partners For Peace.” Rev. Thomas outlined a five-point plan for a lasting peace. First, disarmament: second, banning of nuclear testing; third, recognition of Red China; fourth, the sharing ofresources; and fifth, that the United States must become more Christian. Mrs. Lester Sautbine led in the dedication of the offering and the layettes and clothing for small children to be sent to China and the South Pacific. Rev. Thomas dismissed the meeting with prayer. Mrs. Lester Sautbine, Decatur council president, held a short business meeting after the service. A .special meeting will be held at the first part of January for the election of officers and formulatirig of next year's program. Each church is to have at least three ladies present at this called meeting. PRAYER IS THEME OF METHODIST CLASS “Prayer is Power” was the topic of the talk given by Mrs. Frank Crist at the recent meeting of the Everready Sunday School class of the First Methodist church. •Twenty-five members were present at the meeting, which opened with group singing “If we make a habit of sincere praying,” said! Mrs. Crist, “our life will be very noticeably altered.” She went on to say that “prayer is the effort of man to reach God, the invisible being, the creater of all good things of supreme wisdom, truth and strength.” Mrs. Gail Baughman, president, conducted a short business meetj ing.
