. DECATUR DAILY DEMOCRAT Published Every Evening Except Sunday By THE DECATUR DAILY DEMOCRAT CO., INC. Entered at the Decatur, Ind., Poet Office as Second Class Matter Dick D. Heller, Jr. President John G. Heller Vice-President Chas. Holthouse Secretary-Treasurer Bubsenption Bates -*■■■ By Mail in Adams and Adjoining Counties: One year, $8.00; Six months, $4.25; 3 months, $2.25. By Mail, beyond Adams and Adjoining Counties: One year $9.00; 8 months, $4.75; 3 months, $2.50. By Carirer, 30 cents per week. Single copies, 6 cents. What’s The Matter? Have the people of Decatur forgotten? The Decatur community fund drive, for eight local charities, is now completing its drive. Have you sent your donation? If you haven’t, there is still time. Send it to James Basham, community fund chairman, 527 Limberlost Trail, Decatur. Let’s not forget the men in service; they urgently need the services of the U.S.O. and the Red Cross. And let’s not forget those who will be in serious accidents, or who will suffer from cancer or leukemia, or other diseases which mean that blood transfusions are necessary—the Red Cross blood supply will help them. And the Red Cross will train members of your family, or your neighbor’s, to be ready for any emergency. Red Cross permanent records are set up to make it easy to take care of any local disaster. But only if they have funds provided by the community drive. Do you love your boys and girls? Then give some more for the boy scouts, girl scouts, and youth and recreation activities at the Decatur youth center. Are you interested in the forgotten patients in mental hospitals, or the one out of ten of us who will some day suffer from mental disorders? If so, give to the community fund drive which supports the mental health program. Does the sight of a crippled child twist your heartstrings? Would you like to help? If so, give another dollar for the Crippled Children’s Society. Does the picture of a derelict of society, sinking lower and lower in the gutter, without the help of his fellow man, recall to you the parable of the Good Samaritan, and make you want to give some more to help the Salvation Army? If so, the community fund is your answer. It is your answer for all of these questions. The drive is only ?4,114 away from the goal Have you given your share ? Don’t wait any longer. Send in your contribution today. Make out your check to the Decatur Community Fund, Inc. A number of workers at General Electric and Central Soya are doing even more—they are pledging a small portion of each week’s salary towards the drive. They are carrying their own weight in this community—are you? We understand that the workers at General Electric have done an especially fine job this year. Already 80% of the goal has been reached—so let’s wrap up the campaign right now. Remember, a dollar for each agency is only SB. Have you given your share?
