Jackets Open Season Ticket Sales Today Season ticket sales for the Decatur Yellow Jackets’ 1959-60 basketball season were launched today by the Decatur high school. Hugh J. Andrews, principal, announced that return cards, were mailed today to all persons who held season tickets last year. Officials ask that these cards be returned to the high school office no later than Friday of this week. Price of the adult season tickets, good for the Jackets’ nine home games, will be increased to $5.50 this year, but student season ticket prices are unchanged at $3. Single admission prices have also been boosted, with 75 cents for dults and -50 cents for students. Purchase of season tickets will mean a sizeable saving over paying single admission prices. These price changes will bring Decatur prices more in line with other schools on the Jackets schedule. Andrews also emphasized that season ticket holders will again be given preference in obtaining tickets for the sectional tourney next February. The Yellow Jackets, who wound up their football season Friday, will play their first basketball game Friday, Nov. 20, meeting the Adams Central Greyhounds at the Adams Central gym. First home game for the Jackets will be Tuesday, Dec. 1, when the Geneva Cardinals will play on the Decatur floor. In addition to 18 regular season games, the Jackets will also compete in the hpliday tourmney in the new Portland gym Saturday, Jan. 2, with the Bluffton Tigers and Hartford City Airdales rounding out the four-team field. Browns Defeat Colts, Frisco Leads In West By EARL WRIGHT United Press International Jim Brown, the National Football League’s finest ball-carrier, made “believers” of the Baltimore Colts and changed the complexion of both division races in one golden afternoon. Brown’s five-touchdown spree against the Colts Sunday at Baltimore enabled the Cleveland Browns to upset the defending league champions, 38-31. His Suchdowns on runs of 70, 17 and ree yards and a pair of oneyard plunges also: —Enabled the San Francisco Forty-Niners to take undisputed leadership of the Western Division with a 33-7 triumph over the Detroit Lions—Forced Baltimore, which started the day tied . with San Francisco for first, into an uphill fight to retain its Western Division crown. —Kept the onrushing Browns only a game behind the New York Giants, 20-3 victors over the Green Bay Packers, in the Eastern race. Eagles, Browns Tied The Philadelphia Eagles remained tied with Cleveland at the halfway mark in the campaign by staving off a Washington Redskins rally for a 30-23 triumph. In Sunday’s other games, the Chicago Cardinals upset the Pittsburgh Steelers, 45-24, and the Chicago Bears surprised the Los Angeles Rams, 26-21. Brown, who set an all-time NFL rushing record of 1.527 yards last year, is in his third pro season but never before played against Baltimore. His ability was questioned before Sunday’s game by several Colts. Gene (Big Daddy) Lipscomb, Baltimore’s 288-pound All-League defensive tackle, said “I’ve been itching to get my hands on that cat (Brown).” But Big Daddy and his mates had trouble getting their hands on Brown from the time he rocketed over his right tackle and zipped 70 yards to score in the second period: The current Baltimore defensive unit, ranked with New York’s as the league’s best, never has been so humiliated. Unitas Still Brilliant The 230-pound Brown gained 178 yards on 32 rushes. Averaging 5.5 yards per carry behind the blocking of Mike McCormack and Cleveland’s other offense linemen, he sparked the Browns to victory despite another brilliant passing show by John Unitas. Unitas completed 23 of 41 passes for a personal single-game high of 397 yards and provided Baltimore's four touchdowns on short tosses to Lenny Moore, Jerry Richardson, Raymond Berry and Jim Mutscheller. ' But Cleveland’s defense, basis for the team’s seven Eastern titles in the last nine years, halted Unitas in the clutch. The Brownies stopped Unitas four times within the Cleveland 10 to the disgust of a sellout crowd of 57,557. Baltimore now must play four of its last six games on the road. Two of the road games are at Los Angeles and San Francisco, where the Colts have won once in 14 tries since 1950. . San Francisco and New York pace the division races with 5-1 records. Baltimore (4-2) and Green Bay (3-3) are closest to San Francisco in the West- Cleveland and Philadelphia (each 4-2) appear to be the only teams with chances to catch New York in the East. Have Easy Afternoon JD. Smith’s touchdown jaunts of 73 and three yards and Y.A. Tittle’s scoring passes of 62 and 10 yards to Hugh McElhenny paced the Forta-Niners to an easy victory over the Lions (1-5) at San Francisco before 59,084. Alex Webster’s scoring dashes of three and seven yartte plus Pat Summerall’s two 49-yard field goals enabled the Giants to Whip the Packers before 67,837 Yankee Stadium fans. The Eagles held for downs on their six-inch line in the final minute to beat the Redskins (2-4) at Philadelphia. Norm Van Brocklin completed two scoring passes to Bob Walston and Tommy McDonald within a minute and Bill Barnes produced a 69-yard touchdown dash to help Philadelphia take a 30-9 halftime lead. Ken Hall raced 84 yards and Billy. Stacy 59 to score on punts and help the Cardinals overwhelm the Steelers (both 2-4) at Chicago. Bobby Joe Conrad fired a 52-yard scoring pass to Joe Childress and took a short toss from King Hill for another Cardinal touchdown. Larry Morris, a defensive player traded by the Rams to the Bears, scored the winning touchdown against his former team when he grabbed Bill Wade’s

Wisconsin And Northwestern Meet Saturday BCHICAGO (UPl)'— Wisconsin, winner of its last three conference tests, will challenge Northwestern’s unbeaten path to a Big Ten football championship Saturday in what rates as the Midwest’s game of the week. The Badgers, a top choice of pre-season dopesters, fell victim to Purdue in their first league clash of the season. But they have since disposed of lowa, Ohio State and Michigan to come within tripping distance of Northwestern with a 3-1 record. The Wildcats, who were given a slim chance at best, start the seventh week of the campaign with a 4-0 pace-setting record in the league and second ranking in the nation. Coach Ara Parseghian’s surprising squad has beaten lowa, Minnesota, Michigan and Indiana. A Wisconsin victory would not affect the Wildcats’ first place tenure but it would seriously impair their chances in view of a schedule which appears to favor the Badgers the rest of the way. Final Home Stand The game at Evanston, 111., is the final home stand of the season for Northwestern, which then must face a couple of toughies in Michigan State and traditional foe Illinois on foreign soil. The Badgers also face Illinois but close the season with Minnesota, one of the league’s weaker outfits.

Hie Badgers will head into the contest fresh from a 19-10 success over Michigan. They continued to show improvement in downing the Wolverines, gearing their offensive behind versatile quarterback Dale Hackbart and intercepting six passes on the defensive Hie Wildcats, improving their policy of uncovering a new scoring hero each Saturday, turned up With two in beating Indiana, 30-13. Stock, Burton Shine They were Ron Burton, who recovered sufficiently enough from an anule injury to score two touchdowns within a minute, and Mike Stock, a junior fullback who romped for two more and kicked a field goal. Ohio State was saved from a fall into the league cellar by a 30 - 24 triumph over Michigan State. Tom Matte, who switches from ’halfback to quarterback, started in the latter position for the first time and fired three touchdown passes for the Buckeyes. In other games, Illinois and Purdue helped each other tumble from a share of second place into third place by tying. 7-7, Minnesota took Vanderbilt, 20-6, and lowa showed it is not to be taken lightlyly, at least outside the conference, by walloping Kans as State, 53-0. In addition to the NorthwesternWisconsin clash, the league race resumes with Michigan at Illinois, Minnesota at lowa, Indiana at Ohio State and Purdue at Michigan State. fumble and ran 19 yards. George Halas, controversial Bears coach, closed out another hectic NFL afternoon and drew boos from 77,943 Los Angeles fans when. With one foot on the sideline, he tried to field a Ram punt in the final period. Standings Eastern Division WL T Pct. Hawks Whip Lakers For Division Lead United Press International St. Louis' devastating duo of Bob Pettit and Cliff Hagan has brought the Hawks right back to the top of the National Basketball Association’s Western Division. The Hawks, seeking their fourth straight division title, beat the Minneapolis Lakers, 138-101, Sunday as Pettit, last season’s scoring champion, dropped in 28 points and Hagan pumped in 26. In the only other league action, the Boston Celtics, won their fourth straight by whipping the Cincinnati Royals, 124-109. Rookie Jim Gambee of Oregon State chipped in with 21 points as St. Louis handed the Lakers their worst home defeat in 13 years. St. Louis took an early 5-0 lead and, except for two ties in the first period, stayed in front throughout the game. The Hawks built their margin to 62-43 at halftime and almost doubled their spread by the time the final buzzer sounded. Boston had its closest call when the Royals narrowed the Celtics’ lead to 91-89 with six minutes remaining in the game. But Boston, led by Bill Sharman, then opened the tap for an overwhelming victory. Jack Twyman of Cincinnati, current leader in NBA scoring, was tops for the game with 31 points.
