Friends may call at the Yager funeral home in Berne after 7 p.m. today. Truck Driver Burns To Death In Wreck GAS CITY. Ind. (LTD —A truck struck a bridge on a country road two miles north of here early today and burst into flames, burning the driver to death. Indiana State Police identified the dead man as Glenn Chalmers, about 45, Marion. They said Chalmers approached the small bridge in rain and fog. Troopers said a witness told them the driver was pinned under the truck although the vehicle did not turn over.

Rev. Murphy Speaks At Trinity Church The Rev. Nordan Murphy, of Dayton, Ohio, will speak at the Trinity Evangelical United Brethren church Sunday. Rev. Murphy will bring the message in 4he morning worship service on the theme, “A Charge To Keep.” Rev. Murphy is the executive secretary of stewardship for the Evangelical United Brethren denomination. He is a member of Indiana Conference North of the E. U. B. church and has held pastorates in Whiting, South Bend and Elkhart. He served for four years on the conference committee on stewardship and has been the director of many stewardship campaigns. He received an outstanding award by the national council of churches in 1957 for his leadership in directing the St. Joseph county united stewardship canvass. At present. Rev. Murphy is directing stewardship institutes in the Evangelical United Brethren denomination and is giving general leadership to the promotion of Christian stewardship. Hero Award Is Made To Franklin Youth PITTSBURGH (UPD—The Carnegie Hero Fund Commission announced Friday the awarding of a bronze medal to Jerry D. Wood, 20, Franklin, Ind., for saving a woman from drowning in a river near Bookston, Ind., last year. Wood’s award was one of 35 for outstanding acts in efforts to save the lives of others. Nine School children were in the group of recipients. Five of those cited died in their rescue efforts. The awards are made three times a year by a commission set up by the late steel magnate Andrew Carnegie with a grant of
