ELEVEN ATTEND DISTRICT FIVE MEET AT FORT WAYNE Eleven members of the Decatur Eagles auxiliary attended the district five meeting at Fort Wayne recently. ■-» District chairman. Miss Clara Houk, presided during an election of new officers. Mrs. Ray Venis and Miss Evelyn Spangler of Decatur, were appointed Decatur chairmen for this division for Hoosier boys town project. The next district meeting will be held in Columbia City November 14 at 2 o’clock. Attending from Decatur were the Mesdames Robert Witham, W. R. Morris, Ralph DeLauter, Fred' Pomerenke, George Myers, Ray Venis, Raymond Bodie, Ray Kramer, Artie Jackson, and Miss Evelyn Spangler. Plans were made by the local auxiliary for a rummage sale to be held soon with Mrs. Witham as chairman, ’ . _ COMBINED MEETING IS . HELD AT AFFOLDER HOME A combined meeting of the Xi Alpha Xi and Delta Lamba chapters of Beta Sigma Phi was held Tuesday evening with a hard times party as the feature. Mrs. William Affolder served as hostess. The entertaining room was appropriately decorated for a game period with several receiving prizes. Following the game period, a business meeting was conducted by the president, Mrs. Helen Howell and plans were completed for the card party to be held November 14 and the pledge ritual November 10. A luncheon was later served by the hostess, assisted by Miss Ann Blaney and Mrs. J. Fred Fruchte. PLEASANT MILLS P.T.A. MEETS MONDAY EVENING Pleasant Mills P.T.A. members met at the school Monday evening for a regular meeting. The Rev. Leon Lacoax was introduced by the president, and he gave devotions using Romans 12. A baritone horn duet was presented by Miss Barbara Jackson and Miss Beverly Myers and they were accompanied by Miss Rebecca Lehman. Mrs. Paul Rich presided during the business session,

at which time she announced the date for the annual festival, to be November 20. F. Karels is general chairman and he read the names of people selected to serve .on the various committees. Mrs. Clarence Black, health chairman, introduced Dr. John Terveer city health official, as the guest speaker for the evening. Dr. Terveer told of several old time diseases and how they were treated. Gerald Vizard was in charge of a brief discussion period held following the doctors talk. Mrs. John King, Mrs. Gerald McCullough, Mrs. Don Bollenbacher, Mrs. John Funk, and Mrs. James Myers, served refreshments at the close of the meeting. MRS. RALPH HOBBS IS RECENT HOSTESS The Xi Alpha lota chapter of Beta Sigma Phi members held a business meeting recently at the home of Mrs. Ralph Hobbs near Hoagland. Plans were made for the November 18 meeting which will be a dinner party at the home of Mrs. Joe Hobbs near Monroeville. Members interested in attending are asked to contact Mrs. Fritz Faurote. LUTHERAN LADIES PLAN FOR HARVEST DINNER Two food booths will be featured at Wednesday's annual dinner and fair of the Zion Lutheran ladies, which will begin at 4:30 p.m. The candy booth will have the Mesdames Norman Geiger, Kenneth Schnepf, and Herman Krueckeberg "in charge. Complying with the city zoard of health, all candies have been made and wrapped at the parish hall under the direction of this committee. The market and produce booth will feature garden items of all kinds and will be staffed by Mrs. John Kiess and Mrs. Richard Mailand. The public is invited to attend. The Associated Churches of Decatur will meet Tuesday at 7 o’clock at the Zion Evangelical and Reformed dhurch. Miss Carolyn Drake will be hostess for members of the Junior Women of Woman’s club, Monday at 8 o'clock. Thursday at 6:45 o’clock, a ■stated meeting of the Order of the Rainbow for Girls, will be held at the Masonic hall. Our Lady of Fatima study club members will meet at 8 o’clock Monday with Mrs. Robert Boch. A business meeting for members of Tri Kappa will be held at the Youth and Community Center Tuesday at 7:45 o’clock. Mrs. Louis Rumschlag will serve as hostess for members of the Sacred Heart study club Tuesday at 8 o’clock. Murphy, a Decatur Catholic high school student, was celebrated Friday. Miss Susan Mayclin observed her 16th birthday Thursday. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Clark Mayclin and a student at Decatur high school. Mrs. Dillard Armstrong and daughter of Geneva have been dismissed from the Jay county hospital. The Jay county community fund has reached $21,037.52, or 64 per cent of that county’s goal of $32,515. Jack L. Stetler, 26, of Willshirt, Ohio., has been charged in the Celina municipal court with reckless driving. No trial date set as yet.

Sarah Kaehr Injured in Fall At School Little Sarah Kaehr, 5 years old, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Phil Kaehr, of Decatur route 4, fell Friday about 2 p.m., while playing on a slide at Berne-French school, and suffered a fractured skull, remaining unconscious at the Clinic hospital in Bluffton Saturday morning. Last Day To Ballot On National Flower Today is the last day to ballot for a national flower at Decatur florists, it was announced this morning. Twenty flowers are listed on the ballot, and anyone who desires another flower may list it. Results will be announced next January, and will be used by congress to determine the national flower. Everyone, regardless of age, may cast one vote in the election.
