NURSERY RHYME THEME USED AT RUSH PARTY “Nursery Rhymes,” was the theme used by the Xi Alpha lota and Epsilon Sigma chapters of Beta Sigma Phi at their fall rush party held at the K. of C. hall Wednesday. The rooms were cleverly decorated in keeping with the theme and to add to the setting, the members came dressed as their favorite Mother Goose character. Mrs. Ray Seitz, as the queen of hearts, and Mrs. Vincent Faurote, as Jack be nimble, were warded prizes for the most authentic characterizations. The most original costuming prizes went to Mrs. Richard Braun and Mrs. William Hansfield who came as the dish and the spoon. The evening was spent playing games of childhood after which a luncheon was served. Mrs. Thomas Miller was awarded the door prize. Rushee guests present were the Mesdames Robert Burs, Peter Sertile, Jr,. William Ross, Ray Seitz, Thomas Miller, Allen Fleming, Ron Smith, Richard Braun, Vincent Faurote, Edward Hornick, Karl Burger, and Henry Husmann. RICHARD MAILAND HEADS 8080 ORGANIZATION The Bobo Community Organization met Monday evening, at the school with Richard Mailand in charge. Mrs. Charles Tumblesonled tne group in singing “America the Beautiful,” followed by a prayer from Roman Sprunger. Mrs. Harry McDermott, Mrs. Charles Tumbleson, and Mrs. Roman Sprunger were appointed to look into the purchase of a record player for the school. Speed zone and caution signs were also discussed at the meeting. Wayne Gehres and Frank Geissler, representatives of the Bordon Foods company at Van Wert, were introduced and they showed pictures of their factory and discussed their products. Refreshments were later served by the committee made up of Mr.

B BEP J Miss Bonnie Welker Miss Bonnie Welker To Wed Victor Strickler The engagement and approaching marriage of Miss Bonnie Welker to Victor L. Strickler, has been made known by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. M. S. Welker of 615 Indiana street. Miss Welker’c fiance is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth L. Strickler of 1310 High street. Both are graduates of Decatur high school while Miss Welker also was graduated from Warner Beauty College in Fort Wayne. She is employed at the Bedree beauty shop of thaleity. Strickler is an officer on the Decatur police department. A late fall wedding, to be performed in this city, is being planned by the couple.

ILocesfa Norman L. Hart of Decatur, underwent surgery Thursdav at Parkview hospital in Fort Wayne. He is reported in good condition. Mrs. Folger Holloway, Mrs. Marshall Buechley of Dayton, Ohio, and Mrs. Joseph R. Kuhn of Celina, Ohio, motored to Fort Wayne recently to- visit their aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Philip Kuhn. They stopped at the Adams county memorial hospital enroute and visited another aunt, Mrs. Amelia Linn. / GIRL SCOUTS Brownie troop 573 met in room 104 at Lincoln school Thursday afternoon. Gross Income Tax Collections Higher INDIANAPOLIS (UPD — Gross income tax collections for the first quarter of the fiscal year ending Sept. 30 were more than five million dollars higher than the corresponding period last year, according to a report issued today by the Indiana Revenue Department. Commissioner John J. Morris said collections were $43,159,275, an increase of $5,380,136. Motor fuel tax collections for the quarter amounted to $28,964,489, an increase of $2,205,395. Total collections of income tax, motor fuel tax, intangibles taxes, inheritance taxes, store license fees, oil inspection fees and several other minor tares and fees amounted to $75,331,287. That was an increase of $’(,<43,189 or 11.5 per cent over collections for the first quarter of tne 1958-59 fiscal year. Morris pointed out earlier that gross income tax collections for the quarter did nut reflect the impact of the steel strike which began July 15.
