CHAPTER NIGHT HELD BY WOMEN OF MOOSE Women of the Moose held chapter night Thursday evening at the home. Plans were made for a masquerade party to be held at the Moose home Thursday with chairmen so? the evening listed as Mrs. Edward Voglewede and Mrs. Robert Morris. Mrs. Calvin Amick is in charge of refreshments. Prizes will be given for the best masked, most fattest, and ugliest. Plans for the star recorders day was announced to be held October 29. Fort Wayne, Portland, and Bluffton will be guests at the next chapter meeting. The meeting was closed in regular farm with a social hour following. The door prize was presented to Mrs. Gerhard Marbach. October 22 is set as the next meeting date. V.F.W. LADIES GROUP HOLDS RECENT MEETING A meeting of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary was held recently at the post home. After a reading of official and other communications, the members voted to send a five dollar gift to Cold Springs road hospital at Indianapolis. Plans were made for the midwinter fall conference to be held at Bloomington November 6. 7 and 8. Following the initiation of Mrs. Wayne McMillen as a new member. auxiliary chaplain, Mrs. Leslie Hunter gave the flosing prayer. Mrs. Robert Witham was hostess for the social session that followed. The door prize was won by Mrs. Kenneth Birch. SALEM W.S.C.S. MEETS WITH MRS. CARL SCHUG Women’s Society of Christian Service members of the Salem Methodist church, met Thursday afternoon with Mrs. Carl Schug. Mrs. Austin Merriman, the club president, was in charge of the meeting and she read from the Methodist Woman. Mrs. Roy Frank gave the devotions and a prayer was offered by Mrs. Chester Bryan. A lesson was under the charge of Mrs. Ronald Bryan. The business meeting -opened the week of prayer and self denial and a program will be held Friday, October 30, at the church. After roll call and the secretary’s report, Mrs. Merriman closed the meeting with a prayer. Refreshments were served later toßlrs.' Ray’Christman and Mrs. Clara Dolch. guests, and 15 members. In the absence of president, Mrs. R. C. Hersh, Mrs. Joe Hunter opened the meeting with the posting of the colors and singing of the national anthem. Reports were given on ether meetings to be held this week and included was the Past President’s Parley meeting scheduled for Wednesday noon at the Legion home in Decatur. Mrs. Ed Bauer will be installed as president, Mrs. Herman Dierkes, secretary and treasurer, and Mrs. Goldie Blaisireg of New Haven as first vice president. Workshops will be held at New Haven Saturday at 10 a.m. with a carry in lunch to be served. A fourth district meeting will be held at Bluffton the fourth of November and the next regular meeting will be held October 23. A rush party will be held by the Beta' Sigma Phi chapter at the C. L. of C. hall Wednesday at 8 o’clock. The Do Your Best Sunday school class of the Trinity E.U.B. church, will hold a regular meeting Wedi nesday at 7:30 o’clock. A meeting of the Friendship Village home demonstration club of Blue Creek township, will be held Thursday at 1:30 o’clock at the Kimsey school. Sunday at 7 o’clock, the Marineis club of the First Presbyterian church will hold a potluck supper at the old manse. All interested couples of the church are invited to attend. The Past Matrons club of the Order of the Eastern Star, will meet at the home of Mrs. Robert Macklin at 7:30 o'clock Thursday. Thursday at 7:30 o’clock, the Adams County Nurses Association will meet in the directors room of the Bank of Berne, where films will be shown. The Ruth and Naomi Circles of the Presbyterian church will meet Wednesday at 8 o’clock. Mrs. James Burk will be hostess for the Ruth Chcle and Naomi Circle members will meet with Mrs. R. M. Ladd. The program for the evening is entitled “Faith and Practice of Islam,” and will be presented by Miss Frances Dugan and Mrs. Richard Schauss. Mrs. Glen McMillen will be hostess far members of the Pleasant Mills Methodist Women’s Society of Christian Service Friday at 7:30 o'clock. A K. of C. auxiliary card party will be held at 8 o’clock Wednesday at the’K. of C. hall. The Gals and Pals home demonstra’ion club will meet Tuesday at 7:30 o'clock at the Pleasant Mills high school. Members are to come masked. Evansville Jewelry Store Looted Sunday EVANSVILLE Ind. (UPI (-Employes of the Utterback Jewelry Co. twho went to work Sunday to arrange window displays discovered that burglars had robbed the place of rings, watches and other jewelrv with a wholesale value of $75,000. Police said the work was that of professionals. Tumblers were removed from locks on the front door of the shop and display cases were carefully picked over for the more valuable items. 1

As organist Larry Merriman played the traditional wedding march, Miss Mary Ann Kelsey was led to the altar of the Salem Methodist church, where she became the bride of Roger Lee Snyder Saturday. Miss Kelsey is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clair E. Kelsey of rural route 1, Monroe, and Snyder is the son of Mr. and i Mrs. James E. Lovellette, rural route 5, Decatur. The Rev. Leon Lacoax read the double ring ceremony before an altar enhanced with candelabra and altar vases filled with white gladioli. presented by Merriman and vocalist. Gary Millington,> included “God Gave Me You,”] “Always,” and “Savior Like A Shepherd Lead Us,” as the couple knelt at the altar. Presented in marriage oy her j father, the bride selected a gown, of bridal taffeta. The molded bo-, dice featured a draped neckline ’ and short shirred sleeves with matching mitts. Her very bouffant skirt was highlighted with a shir-J red bustle back that flowed into a full chapel train. Miss Kelsey wore i a pearl neeklace, a gift of the bridegroom, and a three tiered veil of French illusion that was, held in place with a crown of pearls and sequins. For her bridal bouquet, the new Mrs. Snyder carried a cascade arrangement of i yellow and white roses. Attending her sister-in-law as matron of honor was Mrs. Herman , A. Kelsey. Bridesmaids were Mrs. I Robert Hurst and Miss Marcia Merriman, and the flower girl was Miss Diane Gaunt. They wore matching gowns of aqua blue lace over net and taffeta styled with a; V neckline and brief sleeves. Bands of satfn encircled the waist and skirt. Their matching headpieces of horsehair braid, held ny- i lon maline circular veils and they carried bouquets of carnations. The flower girl was dressed identically to the elder attendants, only in yellow. Brother of the bride Roger L. Kelsey, was best man and guests were seated by John Snyder and Herman A. Kelsey. Motorist Is Cited Following Accident A Berne motorist was cited by Sheriff Merle Affolder Saturday morning following a major auto accident about five miles east of Berne at the intersection of state road 118 and county road 29M> when he drove over the center line of the state highway anu struck a vehicle stopped at a stop sign at the county road. Larry L. Simon. 21, of Berne, will appear in the Berne justice of the peace court later this week | to answer the charge of driving on the wrong side of the roadway while not passing. His car sustained $290 in damages when it struck the car operated by Doris Joyce Emberlin. 16, of route 1. Berne: The accident occurred at 9:45 a m Saturday. The Emberlin car sustained $350 in damages. Simon told the sheriff that he took his eyes off the road to fix his horn button when the accident j occurred.
