Cooler Trend Due In Indiana Today United Press International Thousands of Hoosiers who have perspired through mostly abnormal temperatures since the last of July welcomed today a cooler trend due to drop the mercury into the 40s tonight. But the warm weather bowed out reluctantly and the five-day outlook by no means indicated any chilly autumn spell is just around the corner. The mercury failed to hit the 80s anywhere around the state Tuesday. The top reading was 78 at Evansville. It dropped into the 50s during the night, mostly in the mid and upper rangeSeveral days of cloudy and rainy weather which brought enough precipitation to further alleviate the late-summer drought was waning this morning and drizzle over some areas was destined to surrender to fair skies. However, sunny conditions may not last long. The outlook for Friday was for a chance of scattered showers, and the five-day outlook indicated precipitation totaling ' one-half to an inch will occur Friday and Saturday and about Monday. High temperatures today wil range from 66 to 70 north to 71 to 75 suh. Lows tonight will range from 44 upstate to 48 to 52 downstate. For the next five days, temperatures will average 2 to 6 degrees above normal, with the greater departure in the south. Normal highs this time of year are 64 to 74, normal lows 43 to 55. “Warm Thursday, turning cooler Friday and Saturday but probably milder again Sunday or Monday,” Monmouth PTA Hom Supper On Thursday The annual ham supper, spdh- ’ sored by the Monmouth parentteachers association, will be served at the school Thursday from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Admission prices will be only $1.25 for adults, 75 cents for children six to 11 years of age, with no charge for children of pre-school age. Plan Achievement Banquet October 9 The Blue Creek township Farm Bureau will sponsor its annual 4-H achievement banquet Oct. 9 at 6:30 p.m. at the Co-op building in Monroe. . „ AU 4-H members in the township, their parents and all Farm Bureau members are invited to attend. Meat, rolls, and refreshments will be furnished. Members are asked to bring a covered dish and their own table service. • St. Mary's River Is At 3.20 Feet The St. Mary’s river now stands at 3.20 feet according to weather observer, Louis Landrum of Decatur, who said this morning that no more rain was recorded after 12 noon Tuesday. Landrum recorded .61 inches yesterday and although some precipiation has fallen since, it was not measurable as it was so slight. Luncheon Meeting Os C. C. Monday The October luncheon meeting of the industrial division of the Decatur Chamber of Commerce will take place Monday at 12 o'clock sharp at the Youth and Community center with Gail Grabill, county school superintendent, speaking on the school reorganization act of 1959. Fred E. Kalter, secretary of the industrial committee, said today that, as in the past, members will be asked to pay their quarterly share in advance for these luncheon meetings. A check should be sent to Kolter for $5.25 on or before Oct. 9. In the event a member can not attend, he should phone Kolter at the Chamber office during the week prior to the meeting date and a refund of $1.50 wiU be made.
