Seek Increase In American Exports WASHINGTON (UPD — The United States is getting ready to put new pressure on several European countries to soften their restrictions on imports of American goods> Top officials feel it is time tor these countries to abandon policies of discrimination against U.S. exports. More liberal trade and currency exchange rules abroad would help increase American exports and alelviate the drain on U.S. gold stocks. Officials here would like to bring off such a turn of events for these reasons and to forestall any possible resurgence of protectionist sentiment in this country. Although not serious the gold outflow, which has been in progress for 1% years, is a problem. The administration would like to solve it by boosting exports rather than curbing imports. U.S. leaders wil open their campaign informally next month when foreign ministers and central bankers come to Washington for the annual meeting of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund. Later, the State Department will follow up with formal negotiations through regular diplomatic channels. There is still no official decision on which countries should be called on to lower their dollargoods barriers. But a lok at the liberalization index of the Organization for European Economic Cooperation gives some god clues. A maximum reading of 100 means a country has wiped out its restrictions. The lower a country's score, the more it still discriminated against dollar goods. On this basis, the OEEC issued/ the following 1958 ratings: Austria I 45, France 50, Denmark 66, Italy 68, Sweden 68, United Kingdom 73, Benelux 86, West Germany 95, Greece 99 and Switzerland 99. For the 17-nation OEEC as a whole, the average was 73. Injuries Fatal To Indianapolis Woman INDIANAPOLIS (UPD — Mrs. Ann Jefferson, 50, Indianapolis, died Wednesday in General Hospital here of injuries sustained in a two-car accident Tuesday on U.S. 52 near the Indianapolis city limits. Mishawaka Man Is Crushed By Auto MISHAWAKA, Ind.
