Yanks, Tigers Win Friday In Little league Fine pitching marked the Little League double header at Worth- ■> man field Friday night, with the front-running Yankees remaining undefeated, and the second-place Tigers staying close on the leaders’ heels. The Yankees scored their sixth win in a row by blanking the Red Sox, 2-0, in the opener, and the Tigers ran roughshod over the White Sox in the nightcap, 16-1. Bob Mies limited the Red Sox to two bits in the first game, singles in each of the first two innings, walked only two batters and fanned 10. Pat Werst, although touched for eight hits, was tough in the' clutches for the Red Sox. The game’s only runs scored in the fourth on a double by Tom Hakes, singles by Dave Baughn and Alan Sprunger, and an error. The nightcap was called after four innings under the league’s runs-ahead rule with the Tigers leading, 16-1. The winners had only four hits, but White Sox pitchers walked 14 batters, hit two and had seven errors committed behind them. ~ \ Tom Lose held the White Sox scoreless through the four innings the game went, the lone run scoring on three walks and a fielder’s choice. Double headers are scheduled Tuesday and Friday of next week. Tuesday, the Senators meet the Indians at 6:30 p.m., followed by the Yankees and ligers in a first place battle. Friday night, the Senators meet the White Sox at 6:30, followed by the Indians and Red Sox.
