MR. AND MRS. B. F. HILL MARRIED FIFTY YEARS Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin F. Hill, former residents of Decatur and now of Roanoke, will celebrate their golden wedding anniversary June 28 at the home of their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. George L. Hill, Sr., of near Roanoke. Invitations have been extended to friends and relatives of the couple to attend the coming Sunday celebration. t Other than their son, Mr. and Mrs. Hill have three grandchild dren, Mrs. Vivian Goff of Roanoke, and George L., Jr., and Mrs. Martbellyp Piatt, both of Fort Wayne. The celebrants also have six greatgrandchildren. FAREWELL DINNER IS HELD SUNDAY Mr. arid Mrs. Lionel Brentlinger entertained Sunday with a buffet supper honoring the Rev. and Mrs. Bill Brentlinger, who left Monday for Wasbougal, Wash. Friends and relatives of the Rev. and Mrs. Brentlinger > who were present, were Mr. and Mrs. Glenn VannitL-of Columbus, Ohio; Mr. and Cloud of Johnston, Ohio; Mr. and Mrs. Loren Brentlinger and daughters of Martinsville; Miss Mabie Hoagland of Detroit, Mich.; Mr. and Mrs. Marion Hoagland of VanWert, Qhio;'Pete Dalzell of Fort Wayne; and Miss Etta Mallonee of Decatur. Evening callers were Mr. and Mrs. Dave Owens and son of Fort Wayne and John Lubrman ofjDecatur.. The Harry Staley cottage on Oliver Lake, will be the scene of a picnic for members of the Loyal Daughters class of the Bethany E.U.B. church Sunday. Tuesdtay at 8 o’clock, members of the Eagles Auxiliary will meet at the Eagles hall.

JOINT MEETING IS HELD SUNDAY EVENING The Women's Guild and the men’s brotherhood of the Magley Salem Evangelical and Reformed church, held a joint meeting in the church sanctuary Sunday evening. Mrs. Ella Scherry opened the program with an organ prelude, after which the group sang the hymn, “Blessed Assurance.” Miss Lois Beavers and Ronnie Girod, accompanied by Miss Nyla Girod, presented a duet. Scripture ttas read by Mrs. Walter Osterman, who also offered a prayer. Mrs. Eugene Sommer introduced the speaker for the evening, Joe Levine, president of the Federation of Jews of Fort Wayne. Besides speaking on Judaism, Levine explained the condition of Israel today. Fololwing the speaker, a quartet composed of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Scherry and Mr. and Mrs. James Myers and accompanied by Lewis Worthman, sang a song. The meeting was closed with a prayer given by Mrs. Walter Walchle. Making up the committee in charge of the evening’s program were the Mesdames Eugene Sommer, Robert Kolter, Milton Hoffman, Walter Osterman, Martha Dettinger, Anna Beineke, Walter Walchle, Eugene Blume, and Otto Hildebrand. Members of the Historical Society will meet Tuesday evening at 8 o’clock at the Decatur public library; Judge Remy Bierly will be the guest speaker. The public is invited to attend the formal installation to be held by Women of the Moose tonight at the Moose home beginning at 8 o’clock. Following the service, refreshments will be served to those in attendance. Mrs. Otto Hildebrand and Mrs. Robert will be hostess for members of the Sunny Circle Home Demonstration club.- members Tuesday evening at 8 o’clock at the Preble township community building. A meeting of the Pythian Sisters will be held Monday at 7:30 o'clock at the Moose home. Needle club will follow. A group of Eastern Stars and Masonic families will motor to Franklin Sunday to visit the Masonic home. The group will be leaving the local Masonic hall at 7 am. with a picnic lunch. Any member and his family is invited to attend. The Decatur W.C.T.U. will meet Tuesday at 1:30 o’clock at the home of Mrs. Jesse Niblick. All unfinished business will be completed and plans, will be made for the summer rally to be held at Fort Wanye. ;

Henry Faurote and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Bower, of Monroeville, and the godparents, Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Faurote, was held. Steven's brother, Mike, also attended.

Mr. and Mrs. Barney Miller, Bryant, visited over the weekend at the home of their granddaughter, Mrs. Margaret Sprunger, and her family, near Willshire, 0.. Mrs. Marion Friedt of Decatur was finally able to meet in person, a woman to Whom she writes in Bertand, Neb. Accompanying Mrs. Fridt on her trip to visit Mrs. Kenneth Weber, were her two eldest daughters, Jane and Sharon. Miss Phyllis Hodle, daughter of Mrs. Maxine Hodle of 601 Indiana, and a student at Decatur high school, celebrated her 16th birthday Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Adam and family left earlier this week for a trip through the Smokies. South Carolina, and Florida. While in Florida, they will attend the wedding of their cousin, Calvin Worthman, Saturday afternoon in Orlando, Fla. They will spend several days with Mr. and Mrs. Freeman Stepler and family in Orlando. The Adams will return to Decatur July 2, their wedding anniversary. Snyder, route two, was apprehended- Tuesday" afternoon east of Tocsin for speeding. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Wall, of Dyer, are spending two days in Decatur visiting their grandchild, Laural Wall, who celebrated her second birthday Wednesday. Miss Wall is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wall, of 422 Jackson street. Miss Jackie Burke, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Verlin Burke, and Miss "Mary Alice Kneuss (daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Victor Kneuss, have enrolled in a course at the Warner Beauty College. Mr. and Mrs. Lionel Brentlinger will spend the next several days in Columbus,’Ohio, visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Glen Vannett. Friday, Mr. and Mrs. Clem Voglewede will celebrate their 53rd wedding anniversary. Clarence Davis Dies At Home In Dayton Friends near Monroe have received word of the death of Clarence Davis, Dayton, 64, 0., who resided near Monroe before moving to Dayton. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, at the Tobias funeral home, Dayton. Surviving are the wife, the former Martha Laisure, and two sons, Richard Davis, Dayton, and Kermit Davis, Brookville. Ail Linkletter At - Indiana Stale Fair Art Linkletter will appear along with Bill Shirley, Norma Syll, Johnny Matson, and Jan Garbor’s orchestra in a one-night stand Friday, September 4, at the Indiana state fair. In Linkletter’s show,, at 8 p.m., he will feature parts of ’hi§ radioTV shows “House , Party” and "People Are Funny,” Robert H. Weedon, director of publicity and amusements has announced. Canadian-born Lirikletter started in show business as a radio announcer in San Diego in 1933, after he graduated from San Diego State Teachers College. In 25 years he has been a radio announcer, radip and public address director for various fairs and expositions, radio program director, author, fair consultant, and'actor as well as emeee. He is-probably best knbwn for his shows. “People Are Funny,” now in its 18th ye.ar, and “House Party,” now in its 14th. Both shows have been continuously sponsored since their beginning, and they make Linkletter the only performer broadcasting with mutually exclusive daytime and nighttime contracts. Linkletter’s supporting acts will include Bill Shirley, a Hoosier, born in Indianapolis, who has. played Lt* Cable in “South Pacific” in the Indianapolis Starlight musicals. This spring he was in Indianapolis to promote “The Sleeping Beauty," Walt Disney’s recent movie in which he is the speaking and singing voice Os the prince. Coloratura Norma Syll has had extensive experience in radio, stage and television, as well as in supper club and hotel engagements. Born in Chicago, she has won the Rosemary Clooney gold cup award and has been voted “Miss TV.”

New Haven Lad Dies Os Wreck Injuries AUBURN, Ind. (UPD—A third victim of a three-car crash during an alleged race on a public highway died in Souder Hospital here late Wednesday of injuries received in the wreck. Gerry Chronister, 17, New Haven, died two days after Duane Gillingham, 18, New Haven, and Michael Chapin, 16, Fort Wayne, were killed on Ind. 1 north of Butler. Police said a car driven either by Chronister or Gillingham was racing side by §ide with another driven by Chapin when the vehicles topped the crest of a hill and collided with a third car driven by Frederick Mackenbach, 38, Fort Wayne. Mackenbach, the sole survivor of the crash, was reported improving at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, and no longer in serious condition.
