Double Ring Service
As Mrs. Harold Murphy, organist, played the traditional wedding march, Miss Mara Dee Striker was escorted to the palm banked altar of the Bethany Evangelical United Brethren church by her father, to become the bride of Ronald Lee Vetter. The Rev. Benjamin G. Thomas'read the double ring vows at 2 o’clock Sunday afternoon after wedding music including "Romance,” "I Love Thee," and "Because,” were played by Mrs. Murphy. As the couple knelt on white brocaded taffeta kneeling pillows, Mrs. Murphy played the "Lord’s Prayer.” Mr. and Mrs. Fred Striker of 402 Mercer avenue, are parents of the bride, while the bridegroom is the son of the Rev. and Mrs. Walter fc. Vetter of rural route 5. For her marriage, the bride selected a gown of chantilly lace and silk organza over taffeta. The lace bodice was styled with a bateau neckline and brief sleeves. Her full silk organzq skirt fell to waltz length and was highlighted with a g a t h e r e d cummerbund which formed a butterfly bow in the back. T A crown of seed pearls held the bride's shoulder length veil and she carried a cascade bouquet of whjte dairies touched with shrimp ,a gladioli center, and garlands of ivy. Miss Karen Striker, sister of the bride, from Manhattan Beach, Calif., was the maid of honor in a ballerina length dress of shrimp r color. The bodice was accented; with tiny pleats and a bow. Her bouffant skirt was of chiffon over taffeta. Miss Striker’s shrimp colored head band held a half veil and to carry out the color of her gown, she carried a colonial bouquet of shrimp colored daisies and , white mums accented with shrimp colored ribbon and net. Serving his brother as best man was Eugene Vetter of Decatur. Alan Miller, brother-in-law of the bridegroom and Jerry Briner, friend of the bridegroom, seated the guests. Mrs. Striker selected for her daughter’s marriage, a light blue dacron sheer dress with a flower design and white accessories, a!

The bridegroom graduated from Decat u r high school in 1955 and is a recent grad- . uate of Purdue University where 1 he majored in agricultural economics. ''' Upon their return from the wedding trip, the couple will reside at 402 Mercer avenue. Cadet At Camp GREENVILLE AFB. Miss. — Cadet Clinton P. Falling, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Fuelling, route 3, Decatur, is one of 200 AFROTC cadets attending the summer encampment at Greenville Air Force Base, Mississippi. The four week training is designed to prepare Fuelling for a commission in the Air Force after he graduates from Ball State Teachers College. While ’at Greenville AFB, Fuelling ' will observe Air Force operations first hand including flying training, maintenance and supply operations ■ and various support activities.

ARTHUR VOGLEWEDE’S ' CELEBRATE ANNIVERSARY An open house was held Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Voglewede commemmorating their silver wedding anniversary and the arrival home of their daughter, Sr. Mary Martin, C.S.A. Mr. and Mrs. Voglewede were married June 30,1934, with the late Rev. J. J. Seimetz officiating. They have five children, Sr. Mary Martin, C.S.A., Charles, who is stationed in Germany with the armed services, Mary Lou, David, and Alice. Carrying out the theme of the buffet lunch which was served from 2 until 5 o’clock, a four tired wedding cake centered the serving table. Silver candleabra were placed at either end and wedding bells were suspended from a chandelier. Bouquets of flowers were used throughout the home. Ajriong the out of town guests' were Mr. and Mrs Harold Smith of Midland, Mich., Mr. and Mrs. Robert Voglewede and children, Mary Ann and Tommy, Mr. and Mrs. Kevin Whelan and daughter Nancy of Toledo, Ohio, and Miss Patzy Zehr and Miss Patty Omlor of Dayton, Ohio. The graduating class of 1953 of Decatur Catholic ’ high school, former classmates of Sr. Mary Martin, C.S.A., came in a body to visit with hep. C. L. OF C. HALL IS MEETING SCENE The Decatur Home Demonstration club members met recently at the C. L. of C. hall. The meeting opened with the repeating of the club creed and the pledge of allegiance. Mrs. Ralph E. Roop, Mrs. Bert Haley, and Mrs. Charles Beineke, gave reports on their attendance at the conference of the home demonstration clubs of Indiana which was held recently at Purdub University. The Decatur club was represented by the president and first and second leaders, for a 100 per cent attendance. Mrs. Henry Adler, song leader of the club, stated that the Adams county chorus is now open for new members and those who can sing are urged to join. Mrs. Adler , then led the group in singing the song of the month, “How Can I Leave Thee.” Mrs. Ed Ahr presented the lesson on safety, after which 28 members answered roll call by giving a description of their wedding dresses. Hie president, Mrs. Joe Hunter, was in charge bf a short business .meeting at which time the club voted to donate funds to the multiple sclerosis fund. The meeting was closed with the repeating of the club collect. The hostesses, Mrs. L. E. Archbold, Mrs. Henry Adler, Mrs. Joe Hunter, and Mrs. Wanda Oelberg, served refreshments during the social hour. Women of the Moose will hold an open and formal installation at the Moose home Thursday at 8 o'clock. Mrs. Lawrence Ehrsant will be hostess for members of the Pleasant Mills Methodist Women’s Society of Christian Service Wednesday at 7:30 o’clock. All members are urged to attend. l Thursday at 7:30 o’clock, Mrs. John Schurger will be for members of Our Lady of Victory study group. Members of the Pythian Sisters should note that their meeting scheduled for tonight will be postponed until next Monday at 7:30 o’clock at the Moose home. The Root Township Home Demonstration club members should note that a silent auction will be held at their meeting Tuesday at 1 o’clock at the home of Mrs. Dale Moses.

MISS LAMMIMAN TO WED IN AUGUBT A Saturday, August 15 wedding is being planned by Miss Sarah Margaret Lammiman and her fiance, H. Stuart Trainer. The brideelect is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles H. Lammiman of 6317 Liberty Drive, Fort Wayne, while Trainer is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dean Trainee of 6755*4 Bluffton Road, Fort Wayne. Miss Lammiman attended Indiana University and will graduate from the Parkview school of nursjng in July. Mr. Trainer is affiliated with the Trainer Shell service station. Both of the couple graduated from Elmhurst high school. The marriage vows will be repeated in the Waynedale Methodist church at 6:30 o’clock. The Rev. Philip Stephens will officiate. Mr. and Mrs. Lammiman are formerly of Decatur and he is a sister of Mrs. Roy Runyon of Decatur. MISS NORA BROKAW IS GUEST OF HONOR Little; Miss ,Nora Ellen Brokaw' celebrated her sevepth birthday anniversary Friday noon with a din- ' ner held at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Brokaw of rural route 6. A picnic lunch was served to guests who were seated at a picnic table. To top off the meal, individual cup-cakes with small candles, were served to the guests. A game period was held and each p»rson in attendance received a gift and a balloon. Attending the celebration were the Misses Ann Cowan, Toni McAlhaney, Joetta Habegger, Becky 1 Ogg, and Linda Brokaw, sister of . the honored guest. STORK SHOWER IS HELD AT DELLINGER HOME The home of Mrs. Fred Dellinger was the scene of a recent stork shower given in honor of Mrs. Gene Williamson,’;, by Mrs. Don Melching. Mrs. U: J. Montague, and Mrs. Ralph Sauer. ’ The entertaining room was decorated in green and white with, a card table used for the future j mother’s gifts. Upon her arrival, Mrs. Williamson was presented with a corsage of pink carnatiohs. Games were played and the prizes won by Mrs. Lee Edwards, Mrs. George Rothgeb, Jr., and Mrs. Ivan Roth, were presented to the guest of honor. The Rev F. Hazen Sparks and the Rev. Samuel Emerick, read the double ring nuptial vows which united in mariage Sunday afternoon, Miss Ruth Alice Sparks and the Rev. Robert Allen Ochsenrider. The bride is the daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. F. Hazen Sparks, and the bridegroom is the only ch'ild of Mr. and Mrs. Niland Ochsenrider of Decatur. The 2:30 o’clock vows were repeated before an altar highlighted with vases “of gladioli, mums, palms, and candelabra. A musicale preceded the ceremony with Mrs. Edgar Gerber providing organ music and Gale Holger Hansen featured as the vocalist. “The Lord’s Prayer,” “Saviour Like A Shepherd Lead Us,” and “I’ll Walk With God,” were included in his numbers. Miss Sparks selected for tier marriage, a floor length gown of white silk organza and imported chantilly lace. The empire bodice was fashioned with a Sabrina neckline trimmed with sequins and tiny seed pearls. Long fitted sleeves formed bridal points over her hands. The gown, held in place by tiny self-covered buttons, had a bow with long streamers which were appliqued with chantilly lace. A satin covered half hat. held the bride’s white tule veil. For her bridal bouquet, the new Mrs. Ochsenrider carried a white Bible topped with sweetheart roses and ribbon streamers. A blue sleeveless dress with a wide collar was worn by Mrs. Patricia Meredith, sister of the bride and matron of honor, and Mrs. Bonnie Pickering and Miss Ellen Haakenson. bridesmaids. The full skirts of the gowns, had soft inverted pleats and white cummerbunds, To match their gowns, they wore ruffled head bands and carried bouquets of roses. The bridegroom was attended by Robert Reynolds of Yorktown, who was best man, and Howard Redding of Chicago, Paul Sparks, brother of the bride, Joseph Miller of Fishertown, Pa., Max Rhodes of Arcaniu, Ohio, Ronald Robinson of Decatur, and Carermon Webb of Berne, who were ushers. A short sleeve green dress embroidered with silver thread, pink accessories, and a pink carnation corsage, were worn by the mother of the bride. Mrs. Ochsenrider selected a beige silk organza sheath dress with beige accessories and a pink carnation corsage. The social hall of the First Methodist church was the reception scene where approximately 175
guests were greeted by. the couple. Pink roses and candles on white linen surrounded the three tier cake which ' was iced with pink rosebuds. White, pink, and aqua mints carried out the bride's colors. vr— ——=——— : — T’ Servers for the reception included the Misses Christine Key, Ruby Johnston, Jane Vanzant and Mrs. Suzanne Smith. For a northern Wisconsin honeymoon, the bride changed into a white sheath dress with a blue embroidered top and a pink carnation corsage. . Mrs. Ochsenrider graduated from Taylor University in 1958 and has taught one year at the Nicholson elementary school at Richmond. The bridegroom is. a Decatur high school graduate and a 1959 graduate of Earlham college. He is serving as minister of the Trinity Methodist church at Marion. After June 25, the Rev. and Mrs. Ochsenrider will make their home at 2405 South Race street, Marion. Wednesday, beginning at 2:30 o’clock, the Presbyterian Women’s Association will hold their annual guest tea In the church. Mrs. Martin J. Neuenschwander ’of Berne will present a musical program which will precede a social hour in the church parlors.
EIGHTY ATTEND McCullough reunion Approximately 80 people attended the McCullough family reunion held Sunday at the Nimrod McCullough home near Pleasant Mills. A carrydn dinner was served at noon to those in attendance. Members of the family .present were, Mr. and Mrs. William McCullough, Mr. and Mrs. Paul McCullough and family, Miss Carolyn Fast. Central Soya Reports Increased Net Sales A new high in net sales was reported Saturday by Central Soya Company, Inc., in its third quarter report for the three-month period ending May 31. Net sales for the three months totaled $76,261,752. This compares with $59,702,084 for the same period in 1958. The nine-month period ending May 31 also showed a substantial increase in net sales over the previous year, with a total of $209,450,614 for the period just endued, as compared with $161,549,710 for the corresponding period a year earlier. After provision for taxes, net profit for the current quarter amounted to $1,650,760 or $1.24 per share, bringing the nine-month total to $4'129,631 or 53.61 per share based upon 1,336,504 shares currently outstanding. This compares with $1,584,993 for the three-month period and with $3,616,391 for the nine-month period, both ended May 31, 1958,’which was equal to $1.43 per share for the three-Tnonth period and $3.26 for the ninemonth period based upon the 1,110,781 shares then outstanding. Martin, were married at 1:30 o’clock Saturday afternoon in the Methodist church at Willshire. Ohio. The double ring ceremony was performed by the Rev. William Powers. < The bride is tne daughter of Mayor and Mrs. Robert D. Cole of Decatur, and the bridegrooiW is the son of Charles H. Martin. t. Miss Cole was attired in a white pure silk street length dress for her marriage. With it she wore a white petal head piece and carried a corsage of white roses on a white Bible. Miss Jaunita Powers attended as the maid of honor and best man for the occasion was Richard Conrad. Mr. and Mrs. Martin left immediately after the wedding for a northern trip through Canada. Upon their return, they will reside at 103 North Fifth street.
