TRI KAPPA SELECTS NEW OFFICERS I Members of the Tri Kappa sorority met at the Decatur Youth and Community Center Tuesday evening to select a new slate of officers for the 1959-60 meetings. COUNTY PICNIC PLANS ARE DISCUSSED Plans for the county picnic were discussed at the Tuesday evening meeting of the Gals and Pals Home Demonstration club members who gathered at the Pleasant Mills school at 7:30 o'clock. Mrs. Gorden Suman, president called the meeting to order and Mrs. Earl Geyer led the group in singing the song of the month, “How Can I Leave Thee.” Reports from the secretary and treasurer, Mrs. William Workinger and Mrs. Marvin Watkins, respectively, were read and roll call with 22 members and two children answering. “Detergents,” was the topic chosen by Mrs. Paul McCullough for her lesson study. It was learned during the business meeting, that the county picnic will be held June 23 at 6:30 o’clock. Mrs. Suman was awarded the prize during the game period | which was conducted by hostesses, Mrs. Russell Watkins, Mrs. Ed McCullough and Mrs. Loren Myers. The next club meeting will be held a week early, July 7 instead of July 14th. MERRIER MONDAY S MEET AT ARNOLD HOME The Merrier v Monday’s Home Demonstration club members met, Monday evening at the home of, Mrs. Homer Arnold, Jr., with Mrs. : Ervin Liechty as co-hostess. Mrs. Gene -Bluhm, president, opened the meeting by having those present repeat the club prayer. After Mrs. Leo Sheets had given 1 the health and safety lesson on, child discipline, devotions were led I by Mrs. Robert Hankey and Mrs. | Richard Longenberger. They used “A Mother's Prayer,” Proverbs 22, and the "Lord’s Prayer.” Mrs. Sheets led the group in singing, after which roll call was answered by each telling their , wedding anniversaries. The secretary and treasurer’s 1 reports were read followed by a discussion on the club picnic Which will be held July 13 at Lehman park in Berne. A lesson on laundering and a demonstration on different chem- , icals to use in hard water, was J presented by Mrs. Jim Arnold. He and his wife will move to Mishawaka this fall, where he will be a music instructor in the junior-senior high school. Dan C. Eckrote is Lutheran hospital where surgery was performed recently for the removal of a cataract from his eye. Mrs. Marlowe Cherry, of Longmont. Colo., is visiting in Decatur with her mother, Mrs. Homer Bittner, for about a week. Saturday the two will leave for Wisconsin to visit relatives there, and Mrs. Bittner will return to Denver for a visit with her daughter, Robert E. Templin, of White Fish Bay, Wis., formerly an insurance agent here, has been promoted to vice president of Northwestern Mutual Insurance company. Mrs. Templin is the former Dorcas Hoagland.
