Open Morning League Play Next Monday The Morning league, with six teams formed, will open the summer schedule at Worthman field next Monday, with games scheduled Monday and Wednesday mornings. Bob Worthman, recreation supervisor at the field, reported that 73 boys signed for league play. There are 13 boys aged 11 and 12, 14 who are 10 years old, and 46 who are nine years of age and under. Tigers, Yanks Score Wins In Little League A pair of free-scoring games marked play in the Decatur Little League Tuesday night, with the Tigers and Yankees scoring victories. ,i Hie Tigers defeated the White Sox in the opener, 17-8, and the Yankees whipped the Indians, 17-5, in the nightcap. , The Tigers made- good use of their 10 hits and 10 bases on balls to score in all except one inning for their opening game victory. Big inning Was the third, when seven runs scored. Dick Omlor had three hits for the Tigers, including a home run and a double. The White Sox scored five of their runs in the third. In the nightcap, the Yankees piled up an early 12-1 lead and were never in danger. Bob Mies had three hits and Dave Anspaugh two for the winners. Big blow for the Indians was a three-run homer by Steve Mcßride in the third inning. Building Dugouts At Field Delayed Construction of baseball dugouts at Worthman field, temporarily halted two weeks ago because of inclement weather, will be started as soon as the general contractor is free from previous contracting committments, Wilbur Petrie, president of the Decatur Booster club, said today. Petrie, in reply to question#*?Bh'cerning the delay, said that Jim Basham, Central Soya company engineer, would personally supervise the operation, when Allan Fleming, general contractor, concludes work on the landscaping of the Soya company's new building.
