Seek Designation As Pilot County The Adams county soil conservation district has submitted its bid to become one of the two pilot counties in the state, having partime clerical assistance. The bid resulted from action by the state soil conservation committee's program to allocate $25,000 for educational promotion in the soil conservation field. $1,200 for Extra Help The state committee announced that a northern and southern county would be granted $1,200 each in an experiment to determine the efficiency of added administrative help. Because the Adams district is a training center for the northern half of the state, and the fact that it has one of the heaviest workloads in the entire state, the district supervisors, under chairman Herman Bulmahn, decided o enter the request. The remaining $22,600 will be proportioned to the 80 soil districts within the state according to acual need. Most of the funds will be used to educate non-professional personnel interested or active in soij conservation work. As an example, the cost of demonstrations and tours, SCS camps, and other informative practices might well be defrayed by these funds. Decision on July 1 While no date for the selection of the two pilot counties was tendered by the committee the funds will be available July 1. The resuls are expected to be announced on or before that date.

The local supervisors also sent a tentative budget with the request,
