Brown, has been made known by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Norbert Aumann of 110 Rugg street. Her fiance is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dallas Brown of route 3. Upon her graduation from Decatur high school in 1956, Miss Aumann entered Ball memorial nursing school in Muncie, where she will graduate in August. Brown is a Monmouth high school graduate with the class of 1956 and will resume his studies at Ball State Teachers College in Muncie this fall. The future Mr. and Mrs. are planning an early fall wedding.

Presbyterians Open Annual Assembly INDIANAPOLIS (UPD — Reenactment of a 16th Century worship service featuring the reading of a sermon given by John Calvin, founder of the denomination, tonight will conclude preliminary sessions of the 171st General Assembly of the United Presbyterian Church in the U.S.A. The assembly opens an eightday annual meeting Wednesday attended by nearly 1,000 delegates representing congregations totaling nearly 3,200.000 members. The reenactment of a worship service,, of 400 years ago will be given on a theater stage where many famous vaudeville and entertainment acts played to Hoosier audiences in years past. The theater also will be used Wednesday morning for the official opening session of the assembly. including a comnaunojn service and a sermon by Dr. Theophilus Mills Taylor, moderator of the assembly. —‘ ~— Election of a. moderator also will be held Wednesday.

Mr. and Mrs. William Hamma and Mrs. Susan Cook, were Sunday supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Weldon Hamma of Portland. While visiting with her son in Columbia City, Mrs. lona Snyder of Willshire, Ohio, suffered a broken hip and was taken to the Whitley county hospital. Pre-assembly events continued today with the second day of a conference on evangelism and the fourth and final day of closed meetings of the denomination's general council, a central coordinating agnecy of the church. The council will report tonight on whether to reommend use of newspaper advertising as a means of evangelism, after weighing the results of an experiment conducted over a 24-week period last fall and winter in Rochester, N.Y. Speaker Monday night at the first of a series of seven evening, “popular meetings” to which the public was invited was the.:_R*y. James I’. McCord, president-elect of Princeton Theological Seminary.

ROSARY SOCIETY HOLDS MOTHERS DAY PARTY Approximately 150 guests and members attended the Monday evening Mother’s day party of the Rosary society. The senior girls of Decatur Catholic high school were honored guests along with the elderly ladies of the parish. Mrs. Ed Keler was awarded the prize for being the mother with the most descendants present. Miss Judy Braun presented a piano solo and accordion selections were played by Miss Susie Braun. A skit on table rfianners, showing both good and bad etiquette, was enacted. Presenting the skit were David Kable, Miss Judy Koors, Miss Pat Cook, Steve Omlor, Miss Bonnie Hakes and Miss Sarah Gass. The Rev. Robert Jaeger showed slides taken on his trip to Europe following the skit. Rev. Jaeger showed pictures of the ship leaving from New York City, landing in England, crossing the channel to France, Austria, the Alps, Itgly, Rome, along The Mediterranean coast, Paris, and taking a plane back to the U. S. The hall was decorated in pink and white with favors of pink carnation napkin holders. Hostesses for the occasion were Mrs. Irenaeus Gase, Mrs. Herman Heimann, Mrs. Joseph Geels, and Mrs. Lawrence Gase. A meeting of all study club officers will be held Friday evening at 7 o’clock at the C.L. of C. hall, ’rtiis is an important spring meeting and all officers are urged to attend. Members should take note that the meeting will end in time so that those who wish to attend the Decatur Catholic high school band and glee club concert may do so. The annual concert of the Decatur Catholic high school band and glee club will be held at the school auditorium Friday beginning at 8 o’clock. Members of the American Legion Auxiliary, will hold a social meeting Friday at 8 o’clock at the Legion hogfce. A meeting of the Democratic Women’s club will be held Monday at 8 o’clock at the Berne bank building. Anyone wishing transportation is asked to call 3-3856.

Junior Band Concert Here On Wednesday The Decatur junior band will present a mid-day concert on the Adams county court house lawn Wednesday at 12:30 o’clock, Clint Reed, band instructor, said today. The band, which has a membership of 60 students, will play the following selections: “March Salutation,” “Over The Waves," a section of “Betthoven’s 9th symphony,” a medley of German folk songs, and an overture. The junior high band will conclude the season’s activities with a picnic following the concert. k Berne Native Dies At Fort Wayne Monday Roy Aumiller, 67, a native of Berne, died at 8:15 a.m. Monday at the St. Joseph’s hospital in Fort Wayne, where he had been a patient 46 days. He had resided in Fort Wayne the past 17 years. Surviving is one brother, Otto Aumiller, of Fort Wayne. The body was removed to the S. M. Sloan & Sons funeral home, where friends may call after 4 p.m. today. Invalid Is Burned To Death In Home INDIANAPOLIS (UPI) — Mrs. Martha Ewing, 49, who was paralyzed from the waist down by rheumatic fever, was burned to death Monday when a couch on which she was laying caught fire. Mrs. Ewing was home alone when the fire broke out, although her 15-year-old daughter and her husband, James, a real estate salesmiffi, had checked earlier to see if she was all right.

AFL-CIO Backs Up Demands By Steelworkers WASHINGTON (UPD — The AFL-CIO lined up solidly behind the United Steelworkers’ wage demand today and accused a White House official of making statements in favor of steel producers. Dr. Raymond J. Saulnier, chairman of the President’s Council of Economic Advisors and target of the charges, angrily denied he jyas trying to influence the steel wage neogatiations. Steelworkers’ President David J. McDonald, an AFL-CIO vice president, planned to return to negotiations in New York City today after getting "wholehearted endorsement” of his union’s position from the AFL-CIO executive council. " The 29-member executive council'. meanwhile,..deferred consider-; a tion of changes it will seek in the Senate-approved labor reform bill. Council members studied a legal analysis of the measure. Carpenters Union chief Maurice A. Hutcheson returned to good standing as a council member, temporarily at least, after being under fire in connection with an Indiana highway scandal. The council decided Monday to defer action against Hutcheson for refusing to answer Senate investigators’ questions on the Indiana situation until his trial on bribery-conspiracy charges is ended.
