Local Students To Attend Institute Three Decatur high school sophomores will attend the first annual junior engineers and scientists’ summer institute session for boys June 22-July 2 at DePauw university, Greencastle. Hugh J. Andrews, principal, said today. The three students are: John Cowan, son of Mrs. James Cowan; Tom Cravens, son of Mr. and Mrs. Windson Cravens; and Stewart Knodel, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Knodel. AH are residents of Decatur. The JEESI program is a serious effort to have the students understand what the engineering area is about, what the various branches Include, which is included in the college program of studies, with emphasis on the study demands, and what they should master in high school (including good study habits and procedures) if they expect to be prepared to pursue the college program of their choice. A minimum of five hours per day in subject matter, topped off by evening cateer discussions by representatives of various industries, provide the students with information which not only gives significance to high school math and science, but also gives them a basis on which they can make college and career decisions with confidence.
