LADY BUG HUNT IS HELD MONDAY EVENING A Lady Bug hunt was held Monday evening at 8 o’clock at Mhe V.F.W. hall, with twelve members present. Mrs. Gyneth Baker and Mrs. Florence Conrad were invited into the circle. A motion was made to send a gift of $2.50 to Mrs. Margaret Watkins, royal lady gold bug. At the close of the meeting, Miss Bobbilou Butler was given the door prize and refreshments were served by Mrs. Glennys Martz and Mrs. Fern Augsburger. A meeting of the D.A.V. Junior Auxiliary will be held Monday at 6:30 o'clock in the D.A.V. hall. Nancy and Marta Hitchcock will be hostesses for the meeting, which will feature a discussion on plans for a picnic in June.
MRS. KENNETH SHANNON SERVES AS HOSTESS Mrs. Kenneth Shannon served as hostess recently for members of the Delta Theta Tau sorority. The business meeting was conducted by Mrs. Leo Teeple, president. During this time, a report was made by Mrs. Irvin on the rummage sale. The nominating committee’s report was given by Mrs. H. R. FTey. During the social hour, Mrs. Wilmer Bultemeier received the door prize. The hostess was assisted by Mrs. Jay Markley in serving refreshments. POT LUCK SUPPER IS SERVED TUESDAY A pot luck supper was served Tuesday evening to members of the K. of C. auxiliary and their husbands. Door prizes were given to Mrs. Jack Hackman, and Max Kreps. After the meal, the evening was spent playing cards and square dancing. Mrs. Joseph Schultz headed the committee planning the affair. The monthly card party will be held May 13 and the next meeting will be in the form of a mother’s day party on May 26. MRS. HAROLD HENSCHEN OPENS RECENT MEETING Thirty one members and three visitors attended the meeting of the Kirkland Ladies club, held at the home of Mrs. Ella Schefry Tuesday evening. Mrs. Harold Henschen, president, opened the meeting with the singing of the song of the month. Mrs. Viola Baumgartner gave the history of the song. ? - F Devotions were led by Mrs. Ellen Leyse, after which a prayer wasgiven. Mrs. Hulda Leyse and'Mrs. Barbara Barger sang two numbers, accompanied by Mrs. Ella Scherry. Mrs. Barbara Kirschner demonstrated how to make a meatza pie. After Mrs. Blanche Henschen had given the citizenship lesson, Miss Marie Brown was presented with the door prize. The meeting was closed with the group singing. “He Leadeth Me,” after which refreshments were served by Mrs. Ralph Ross, Jr., Mrs. Milton Scherry, Mrs. Ralph Leyse, and Mrs. Walter Zimmerman.
MISS DIANA STETLER SERVES AS HOSTESS The Isabelle Crawford chapter of W.W.G. met recently at the home of Miss Diana Stetler. ...... After the meeting had been opened with the reading of the girls’ covernant, the secretary’s report was given by Miss Ruth Ann McCullough, and Miss Sue Noll reported on the club’s funds. “God's Plan for Family Living,” was the topic discussed at the meeting. Refreshments were served by the hostess, assisted by her mother, to five members, four guests and one counselor. Dismissal was with the Mizpah benediction, after which Miss Ruth McCullough was awarded the door prize. Members of the Happy Homemakers home demonstration club will meet Tuesda yat 6 o’clock at the home of Mrs. Floyd Mitchel. The meeting will be a mother and daughter pot luck supper, with Mrs. Cal Peterson as the guest speaker. Each member is asked to bring her own place setting. Tuesday at 7:30 o’clock, members of the Dutiful Daughters class of the Bethany Evangelical United Brethren church will meet at the home of Mrs. Fred McConnel. Miss Luella Werst will be the assisting hostess. 1 — The St. Mary’s Blue Creek conservation club will hold a merchandise trap shoot Sunday at the club grounds, one mile west of Willshire, Ohio on route 124. Sunday at 3 o’clock, the Stan Freeman concert will be held at the Youth and Community Center.

JOLLY HOUSEWIVES MEET TUESDAY The Jolly Housewives Home Demonstration club of St. Mary’s township, met Tuesday evening at .the Pleasant Mills school. The president, Mrs. Richard Mailand, called the meeting to order by leading the group in repeating the club creed. For devotions, Mrs. Murray Holloway read a poem entitled, “Touch of the Master’s Hand.” She was, followed by Mrs. Leland Ray, who gave the history of the song of the month and then led the group in singing the song. Miss Lois Folk hgd charge of the lesson, telling of window decoration. During the business session, it was announced that the program planning will be held May 27 and that camp will be held August 5. Mrs. John King was presented with the door prize after which an auction was held with Mrs. Albert Davison and Mrs. Bertha Bowen in charge. Twenty five members and one guest were served refreshments by Mrs. Murray Holloway, Mrs. Walter Koos, Mrs. Sam Haggard, and Mrs. Floyd Mefferd. Mr. and Mrs. Mick Spencer and sons, of Preble, were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Cookson and family recently. Miss Dianna Hill, a sophomore at Decatur high school, celebrated her 16th birthday April 23. Dianna is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hill of 1019 W. Adams. Miss Kay Ann Noack, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Francis Noack of 1127 W. Adams, celebrated her 16th birthday Monday. Kay Ann is a sophomore at Decatur high school. Miss Joan Gage, a sophomore at Decatur Catholic high school, celebrated her 16th birthday Tuesday. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Gage of 239 N. 11th - street. ———-—— Leo N. Seltenright and John Foley left this afternoon for northern Indiana for the opening day of trout season Friday. T. F. Graliker. president of the First State bank, is vacationing this week. Local Couple Observe Sixtieth Anniversary Wednesday, Mr. and Mrs. William Amstutz observed their 60th wedding’anniversary. Mr. and Mrs. Amstutz were married April 29, 1909 in Berne. Since that time they have resided in Adams and Allen Counties and are presently living at 1045 Elm street, Decatur. The Amstutz's have nine children, Elmer and Ervin of Fort Wayne; Fred of Harlan; Everett of New Haven; Kenneth of Avilla; Mrs. Ernest <Stella) Hall of Fort Wayne; Mrs. Neil (Rose) Kaiser and Mrs. Bernard (Ruth) Scheiman of Sarasota, Fla., and Mrs. Richard (Frieda) Lewton of Decatur. Besides having 29 living grandchildren, they also have 16 great grandchildren. No celebration was held for the couple because of failing health.

ford Smith and baby boy, Decatur. School Bus Hit By Car, None Injured NEW CASTLE, Ind. (UPD—A car struck the rear of a Prairie Twp. school bus Wednesday but 18 children and the driver were unhurt. The accident occurred on Ind. 3, north of here. The bus driver was Harold Hinshaw. /Die car was driven by Cletus L. Parrish, Mount Summit. Over 2,500 Daily Democrats are sold and delivered in Decatur each day.
