City Light Employes Will Benefit A Great Deal From the Sale! If City Light is sold, employes who join I&M will receive increased wages for the same jobs and, in addition, will receive all the extra benefits now in effect for I&M employes. These include excellent medical, insurance and retirement benefits, just to mention a few. The way we see it, in every case the employe will be better off, and we’ve checkd this out with I&M officials. They have pointed out that if they do buy City Light they will not continue to operate the City’s power plants but will bring power in over their own system. Since the city plans to shut down the power plants, plant employes will be out of a job anyway. If City Light is sold, plant employes will receive termination pay from I&M, while the city would pay them nothing. Yes, we feel that City Light employes stand to gain much from the sale of the plant. Some who will not join I&M, we imagine will be retained by the city foi- other municipal jobs. < A vote to sell City Light means: lower taxes, a debt-free Decatur, “quality” electric service, and an unlimited supply of electric power for community growth and prosperity.
