MARCH ANNIVERSARIES A*E CELEBRATED SUNDAY Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Ahr entertained with a dinner Sunday in honor of the birthday and wedding anniversaries of several members of the family.- Birthday anniversaries were observed by Mrs. Fred Ahr, Mrs. Dean Davis, Jim Ahr, David Owens, Mrs. William Barber, Mrs. Lloyd Ahr, and Miss Christine Ahr. Celebrating wedding anniversaries were Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Ahr and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Acheson. - ~ ~ Those who attended the affair were Mr. and Mrs. Fred Ahr, Mr. and Mrs Jim Ahr and son Randy. Mr. and Mrs. David Owens and son Eric of Fort Wayne; Mrs. Robert Ahr, Misses Sandra and Christine Ahr, Steve Ahr of Anderson; Mrs. Robert Riesen of Berne; and from Decatur, Mrs. Ed Ahr, Mt. and Mrs. William Barber, Mr. and Mrb. Lloyd Ahr, and Depute Afrftr St. Jude study club members will meet with Mrs. Joe Kitson Thursday at 8 o’clock. Members of the Pleasant Grove W.M.A. will meet Thursday at the home of Mrs. Mary Shifferly beginning at 1 o’clock. An election of officers will be held and final reports and the dues will be due. Wednesday following the Lenten service, members of the Evangeline Circle of the Zion Evangelical and Reformed church will meet at the home of Mrs. Donald Moser. A regular meeting of the Eagles Auxiliary wil be held Tuesday at 8 o'clock at the hall. Members of the Decatur Methodist Women’s Society of Christian Service will meet Thursday at 11 o’clock at the church. Mrs. Ernest Fullenkamp will be hostess to members of the Holy Family sutdy club tonight at 8:30 o’clock. —— ——- Salem Methodist Women’s <• Society of Christian Service members win meet Thursday at I:3© o’clock at the home of Mrs. Floyd Meyer. Members are reminded to bring their comfort patches. The Elks home will be the scene of the 8 o'clock meeting Wednesday of members of the Epsilon Sigma and Xi Alpha Xi chapters of Beta Sigma Phi. STYLE SHOW IB BLATED FOR TUESDAY EVENING Decatur and area residents are reminded of the : style show, “Portrait of Spring Fashions,” to be presented by the Delta Theta Tau sorority Tuesday evening at the Becafur Youth and Community Certter. The gala affair will start at 8:30 o’clock that evening. Decatur merchants who will provide the latest styles for the annual showing will be the Kiddie Shop, Teen Togs, Jani Lyn, and the E. F. Gass store. Thirty five models, selected by the participating stores will display the newest fashions for women, teen agers, and young children. Serving as co-chairman for the event will be Mrs. Melvin Weisman and Mrs. Jay Markley. The Elks Emblem club 155 of Bluffton donated $l5O to sup-. port a mental health program, and an anonymous Bluffton family gave $250 for an air conditioner w be used in care of mental patients. Olga Curtis and Steven Devore, 12-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Jay Devore, both of Bluffton route 4, were admitted to Wells county hospital for treatment Friday. At a Knights of Columbus initiation in Huntington Sunday, Robert T. Wall, 422 Jackson street, Decatur, became a third degree member of local council 864. Art Lengerich, grand knight, Richard Braun, Herman Geimer, past grand knight, James Brazle, and William Rumschlag, all of the Decatur council, attended the ceremonies. The Fort Wayne initiation team assisted the Huntington council at the 5-h Our program. Refreshments were served after the initiation to the 35 candidates and 150 members. Wearing a floor length gown of chantilly lace and white bridal satin, Miss Edith Coleen Hirschy became the bride of Wayne Jesse Byerly in an afternoon ceremony performed March 1 at the Pleasant Dale church of the Brethren. The Rev. Chester Hirschy, uncle of the bride, assisted by" the Rev. John Mishler, read the double ring ceremony before an altar graced with palms and candelabra with vases of white carnations and rose snapdragons. Mrs. Dale Liby as organist included in her selections, “Walk Hand In Hand,” “The Bells of St. Mary’s,” and “Prayer Perfect.” Miss Betty Steury, friend of the bride, was the soloist, and sang “Indian Love Call,Love You Truly,” “Because,” and “The,Lord’s Prayer.”
Miss Hirschy is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Noah E. Hirschy of near Berne and the bridegroom is the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Victor Byerly of route 2. As the traditional wedding march was played, Noah Hirschy escorted his daughter down the aisle. The bride’s gown was styled with a lace bodice and a scalloped scoop neckline which was enhanced by a. string of pearls, her gift from the bridegroom. The fitted bodice led to her very bouffant skirt which featured alternating panels of lace and tulle._ The back of the skirt swept into a train of lace and nylon tulle over satin. , A pointed crown of chaiitflly lace held in place her fingertip veil of silk illusion. Her hand bouquet was shaped of carnations and lily of the valley, and had an orchid center. Miss Arlene Freels, former classmate of the bride, attended ,as maid of honor in a ballerina gown of white mamselle nylon lace over aqua taffeta. She wore a matching queen’s crown with pearl trim and a short veil. To complete her attire, she carried a bouquet of white carnations with aqua ribbons. Bridesmaid was Miss Carolyn Hirschy, sister of toe bride, and Miss Karlen Nussbaum served as the flower girl. The bridesmaid was dressed identically to Miss Freels and the flower girl wore a white nylon dress with lace trim and a matching white lace hat. They both carried bouquets matching that of the maid of honor. Ronald Corson attended his friend as best man and seating the guests were Philip Moser, Richard Hirschy, brother of the bride, Roland Zimmerman, and Arno Girod. Master Gary Leichty carried a heart shaped pillow with the wedding rings. All men of the wedding party wore white dinner jackets with black trousers and white carnations. For her daughter’s wedding. Mrs. Hirschy selected a royal blue dress with white accessories

and a corsage of white carnations. A navy blue dress with pink accessories was worn by Mrs. Byerly and she too wore a. white carnation corsage. Approximately 165 guests were greeted in the church basement following the ceremony. Aqua and white were the colors used throughout the entertaining room. -Servers included the Misses MaryLou Ehrsam, Linda Lou Schug, Inez Merriman, Carol BuucE Helen Hirschy, Esther Hirschl, and Marjorie Byerly and Mrs. Kay Ratcliff and Mrs. Ed Clem J A rose sheath dress was worp by toe new Mrs. Byerly for the wedding trip of an unannounced destinattion, A graduate of Adams Central high school, the bride is employed by Berne Overall. Also ate of Adams Cental, the bridegroom is engaged in farmiM. After March 15, they will mate their home on route 2, Decatur. Mr. and Mrs. Merlin Johnston of Gary, are the parents of a seven pound, four ounce son, named Derrick Gene, and born Friday at 2:30 a.m. Philip and Marie Bellinger Terveer of Virginia Beach, Va., are toe parents of a six pound, 13 ounce girl born at 9:20 a.m. today. Mrs. Bernard Terveer of this city is the paternal grandmother. At toe Adami county memorial hospital: Richard and Josephine Mcßride Jackson of 130 South 11th street, are toe parents of a seven pound, six ounce girl born at 4:04 a.m. Sunday. A seven pound, five ounce girl was born at 11:25 a m. today to Enos and Mary DeKoninck Ruhl of Hoagland.

Adams Central Bands Launch Candy Sale The annual Adams Central bands candy sale began today, continuing through March 21. The 180 members of the four bands will try to surpass the high total of 1,000 boxes sold last year. ■Die high individual salesman will be presented an attractive prize to be announced later. Proceeds go to the Adams Central music fund to purchase band equipment.
