Two Traffic Cases Are Heard In Court Two traffic cases were heard in mayor’s court this morning with ' Richard J. Sullivan, attorney, act- < ing as special judge in the ab- ' sence of Mayor Robert D. Cole. 1 and Lewis L. Smith acted as prose- 1 cuting attorney, when Severin ■ Schurger was unable to attend. Alvin B. Albers, 25, Cincinnati, 0., was fined $17.75 after pleading guilty to speeding as filed against him March 4 on 13th street by the city police. Chalmer Dwight Huston, 27, route one, Rockford, 0., arrested by the city police on 13th street . March 7 and charged with driving 43 miles per hour in a posted zone of 30 miles per hour, paid a fine of $17.75. A third case was rescheduled for another date. David Leßoy Hunn, 25, Fort Wayne, arrested by the ciyt police March 4 on 13th street for driving 46 miles per hour, will appear at a later date. - - , Luther Evans Dies At Hospital Today Luther Evans, 78, a rettfed farmer living on route 2, Geneya, died suddenly this morning at pc 40 o'clock at the Adams county memorial hospital. 1 Evans had been admitted to the hospital Saturday evenfog at i;45 p.m., following a stroke at his home, where he lived v*th brother, Albert. He had never mar- : ried, and had lived in the BerneGeneva community all his life. The body was taken to the Hardy 8t Hardy funeral home in Geneva. 1 Funeral arrangements are not ' complete. Paint Thinner Jag Takes 24th Victim MONTERREY, Mexico (UPDThe death toll of last week’s paint thinker “jag” rose over the week- : end to 24 solders and migrant workers dead and 41 hospitalized in seriods condition. The victims took drinks from a drum of denatured alcohol, intended for thinning paint, which fell off a truck phssing through Monterrey last week. Local authorities left the drum on a lot between an army port and a recruiting center for migrant farm workers.

William Janes Burned Saturday Afternoon William Jones, 13-year-old son of Monmouth principal Loren Jones, is reported resting well and very cheerful now, at the Adams county memorial hospital after suffering burns on the face and arms Saturday afternoon while lighting a gas furnace. The youth and his mother went to the basement to re-light the furnace when the pilot light went out. A flash of flame followed the lighting process and both were burned. Mrs. Jones was treated by her physician and released. The eighth grade Monmouth student was burned over the upper area of his body not covered by a T-shirt. It is hoped that no scars will result from the fire, but it is too early to tell at present. Driver's Licenses Os Four Are Suspended Two Adams county motorists, one Wells county driver, and one person from Monroeville, appeared on the driver’s license suspension list issued by the bureau of motor vehicles. Bert E. Affolder, of Berne, lost his license for six months , on charges of matter appearing on records and for a driver’s suspension citation. Harold W. Dick, route four, Decatur, lost his license for a two-month period for matter appearing on records, points. William E. DeWert, of route one, Monroeville, lost his license for a three-month period for negligent driver citation. Phyneal L. Knight, of Bluffton, had his license revoked three months for matter appearing on records, points. Young Woman Crushed To Death In Truck GREENCASTLE, Ind. (UPD—A 21-year-old Ohio woman was killed today when a load of steel shifted and crushed her in the cab of a big truck. ~ Authorities identified the dead woman as Anna Mae Stevenson, Springfield. Ohio. They said she was ridipg in a truck with Greadie Arnold, 42. Loraine, Ohio. Arnold was injured and taken to Putnam County Hospital here.

I —Appprroiating $300,000 for de- , velopment and operation of the Chain O’ Lakes State Park north , of Fort Wayne. —Giving the State Aeronautics ; Commission power to regulate the firing of missiles and rockets, except those handled by the govern1 ment and military services. 1 Appropriating $250,000 to help Counties of less than 50,000 population to strengthen their probation systems, a measure in lieu of the governor's proposal to allow two million dollars to start construction of an intermediate penal institution for youthful offenders A host of minor bills are due for death today because the solons frittered away their time until (about 10 days ago, arguing about [‘‘right to work”, ‘‘union reform”, the budget and various political bills. But there will be scant suffering by the public from what the Legislature did not do, according to most observers. __ .
Freakish Accident Reported Saturday The city police department investigated a freakish accident Saturday morning which could have resulted in personal injury to the driver or*considerable damage to property, but miraculualy caused neither. The investigation was brought about When a car driven by Mrs. Lawrence Beavers, 39, of Homestead 48, was headed north on High street at 9:30 o’clock near the intersection of High and Grant According to the police reports, Mrs. Beavers stated that white driving north on High street she saw a car approaching High street from the Adams county memorial hospital drive and thought it would not stop, so she applied the brakes of the auto and lost control of the wheel. The Beavers auto drove through the yard of the Carrol Bassett residence at <SO High street and continued into the driveway of the Delmas Feasel residence at 746 High street, and finally came to rest in the garage of the Feasel home. According to the investigating officer, the auto squeezed into the garage without either side of the car being scratched with only about two feet of the rear of the auto remaining outside of the garbage. » Only damage caused in the mishap was approximately S3O to the under side erf the auto. No damage was listed to the Feasel property and only $5 to the Bassett front yard. Another minor mishap was investigated Sunday at 5:18 pan. in the 100 block on Second x street. A car driven by Edward J. Schmidt, 64, route five, Decatur, was attempting to ,pull from a parking space and struck a car driven by Edward Zanetto, 49, route one, Garrett, which was headed north on Second street. Police estimated S4O damage to the Schmidt auto and $5 to the Zanetto vehicle. Driver Is Arrested Following Accident A motorist was arrested by investigating officers Sunday at 4:40 p.m. near the City limits on U. S. 224 when called to conduct an investigation of a two-car collision which caused approximately S4OO damage to the autos involved. Francis R'. Patch, 31, route one, Monroe, was arrested for making an improper left turn and is scheduled to appear in justice of the peace court at a later date. Patch was arrested when investigating officers determined that Patch, while driving southbound on U.S. 224, attempted to pull in front of a car driven by Norman E. Poling, 20, of Fort Wayne, to pull into a service station drive. The investigating officers estimated approximately S2OO damage to each auto. . — ' IT- ' '

Krall is a senior student at Manchester college, North Manchester. She will graduate in June with a B. S. degree m music and mathematics. The bride-elect is presently teaching music in the Huntington school system. ‘ A 1954 graduate of Decatur high school and a graduate of Manchester college, her fiance is a sophomore student at Indiana University school of dentistry at Indianapolis. He is a member of the Delta Sigma Delta fraternity. All friends and relatives are invited to attend the candleugjn wedding cerismony, which will take place August 8 in Illinois.
Six Fined Here For Traffic Violations Six traffic cases were heard in justice of the peace court over the weekend, with all offenders pleading guilty to the charges. Fines were assessed for the violations. One additional traffic violation case is scheduled for a hearing Tuesday evening. Paying fines were: Rex C. Painter, 17, Willshire. 0., arrested by the city police March 4 on 13th street for driving 44 miles per hour in a posted zone of 30 miles an hour. A fine of $16.75 was 1 taxed for the offense. David E. Beer, 18. route two, Decatur, arrested by the city police on Monroe street February 28 for driving 40 miles per hour. A fine of $16.75 was charged when Beer pleaded guilty. - David W. Linnemeier, 21. route four, Decatur, was arrested by the state police February 27 for disobeying a stop sign at U. S. 27 and Dayton avenue. Linnemeier pleaded guilty and received a fine of $16.75. James Rutherford, 22, Decatur, was arrested by the city police March 5 at Fifth street and Nuttman avenue for driving without an operator’s license. Rutherford was charged $16.75 for the offense. Eugene Morrison, 23, route six, Deeatur, arrested by the state police March I on U. S. 33 about 3V? miles south of Decatur following the investigation of an accident, for driving without a driver’s license, was fined $16.75.

Spangler, 24, route five, Decatur, is cited for a hearing 1 Tuesday evening. He is charged with reckless driving.' Spangler was arrested by the city police ■ Sunday afternoon at 240 W.
