MRS. MORRISON TO HEAD JUNIOR WOMEN’S CLUB Mrs. Eugene Morrison was elected president of the Junior Women’s department of the Decatur Woman’s club, at the March departmental meeting held at the Morrison residence Monday evening. Serving with Mrs. Morrison for the next two years will be Mrs. Ned Knappe. vice president; Mrs. Roger Blackburn, secretary; Mrs. Larry Hutker, treasurer, and Miss Judy Smith, fines secretary. Officers of the past year served on the nominating committee. In the absence of the secretary, ■ Mrs. William Howell, club vicfe president, read the minutes of the February meeting and conducted roll call, which was answered by 25 members. Treasurer, Mrs. Kenneth Wyman, also presented a report. Mrs. Richard Mies, president, conducted the business session which followed. She extended thanks to a group of the members who had volunteered to sell the remaining boxes of cookies, and at the close of the evening, a financial report on this project was given by co o k i e chairman, Mrs. James Webb. Girls who had assisted with the Mother's March on PoMo were also cited, as were the 13 members who will appear in the Beta Sigma Phi sorority’s production “Around the World in a Daze.’’ Mrs. Dave Embler, one of these members, briefly described the scene In which the girls will appear, and told of their progress. Members voted to hold their annual dinner meeting in Fort Wayne again this year. April 6 is the date for the event, and exact details will be announced prior to that time. A large box of sewing items was collected during the meeting, to be forwarded to the Phillippiines, for the “aid to the Phillippines” project which the club voted to support this year. Mrs. Mies is in charge of this project. Mrs. Embler, Mrs. Dan Cowans and Mrs. Morrison served a light luncheon at the close of the business session. Another committee member. Mrs. Richard Johnson, was unable to attend. Mrs. Morrison then introduced Mrs. Vaughn Hilyard, of Wolf & Dessauer, who presented the evening’s program concerning good grooming. She answered a number of questions of ’the girls during her talk, which also traced the wearing of under 1 garments back a century or so. I ; i NEW PROJECTS SELECTED I AT VFW AUXILIARY MEETING A V.F»W. auxiliary business meeting was held recently with 24 members present.' New projects were decided upon and the women were given black pepper and vanilla to sell. An announcement was made that the auxiliary now has 100 per cerit ; membership. The group discussed plans for the birthday anniversary party to be held at the Veterans hospital in i Fort Walyne Thursday. Beginning at 7:30 o'clock, the program will feature the music of Smoky David- . son and his orchestra. Saturday evening, the members i will again meet for a rabbit supper ; at the post home. LITERATURE SECTION MEETS MONDAY The Literature department of the Decatur Woman's club met Monday in the home of Mrs. R. C. Hersh, with 21 members and one honorary member present. Mrs. Joe Thompson reviewed the book, “Moonlight at Mid Day” by Sally Carrihar. The authoress, in her search for scientific facts about the migratory habits of the Artic animals and birds, spent several years in Alaska. Mrs. Jack Knudsen gave a historic description of Alaska, the newest state. She spoke of its vast expanse, natural resources, location near Russia, and radar defense system. Chairman, Mrs, Ed Cook, announced that the members of the ■program committee for next year are Mrs. V. R. Edwards, Mrs. A. R. Holthouse, and Mrs. B. G. Thomas. The hostess, assisted by Mrs. David Langston, Mrs. Thompson, and Mrs. Knudsen, served refreshments at the close of the meeting. Unit 3 members of the Bethany Women’s Society of World Service will meet at the home of Mrs. B.G. Thomas Thursday at 7:30 o’clock. Mrs. Roy Stingely is program chairman and all members are asked to bring their sewing kits. The D.A.V. Auxiliary meeting scheduled for Friday evening has been postponed until April 10. Fashion Showing To Be Held Tuesday

Spring fashions in eye appealing styles and colors can be viewed by the public in the first Decatur showing Tuesday evening at the Decatur Youth and Community Center at 1:30 o’clock. “Portrait of Spring Fashions” is the name given to the style show which is being sponsored by the Delta Theta Tau sorority. Co-chairmen of the event,, Mrs. Melvin Weisman and Mrs. Jay Markley, have announced the different committees. Mrs. Robert Colter, who heads the entertainment committee, promises outstanding entertainment in the form of a girls’ quartet from Decatur high school. The Misses Karen Robinson, Gloria Wall, Cheryle Ashbaucher, and Kathy Schultz will provide vocal music for the program and will be accompanied by Miss Eleanor Miller. Songs they will sing include “May You Always,” and in keeping with the season, “Easter Parade.” For background music during the program, Chet i/jngenberger will present a selection' of organ numbers. Making firiill decoration plans for the ahh'tial styje show which the sorority, again hopes will be a huge success, are Mrs. Robert Krueckeberg, Mrs. Wilbur Bultemeier, Mrs. Gordeq Gregg, Mrs. James Colter, and Mrs. Harold Irvine. Local merchants who will show their new fashions in the style show include the Kiddie Shop, Teen Togs, Jani Lyn, and the E. F. Gass store.
