Pour into the hole or “well” a little melted lead, and unless the glass is exceptionally thick, a perfect hole will result. Merinqne If too much sugar is used little drops of syrup will form on the top of the merinque. The correct proportions for pits are o n e to five tablespoonfuls of sugar to each egg white. Sticking Labels To stick labels to glass or tin, mix one part powdered gum arable with one part starch and four parts sugar. Place over water and boil, until dissolved, then thin with water until the mixture becomes a liquid glue. Hosiery Economy „ If one con afford it, it pays to buy three pairs of Hcfce of the same color at the same time. The mating up process as they begin to wear out is a most economical measure. Glue Bottle Use a piece of candle, instead of a cork, in the glue bottle, and the glue will not dry out so quickly. Enamel When .cleaning enameled tables or chairs, wipe them off with salt which has been moistened with vinegar; then sponge with clear water and wipe dry with a soft cloth.

Court Ruling For Welfare Director CROWN POINT, Ind. (UPD—A judge ruled Wednesday that Cake County Welfare Director Fred Steininger had done all he could to return" a mother’s two children from lowa and that he was not in contempt of court for failing to produce them. Lake Superior Judge Anthony M. Roszkowski declared all actions by the Lake County Juvenile Court in placing the two sons of Mrs. Joan Roth, 23, Dyer, in a foster home in Centerville, lowa, to be null and void. In effect, he ruled, the actions of the court were illegal. Roszkowski then ruled that the children be released from custody of the welfare department and returned to their mother. Attorneys for Mrs. Roth said they will file for a writ of habeas corpus for the boys in the Southern District Federal Court of lowa. Roszkowski ruled that Steininger had made every possible effort to have the children, Gilbert, 2, and Steven, 8, returned from lowa and therefore had absolved himself on any wrongdoing. Steininger explained that District Judge Edward L. Simmons, Centerville, lowa, refused his request for the return of the boys from the foster parents’ home. The youngsters were placed in the foster home by the Lake County Welfare Dept, after the mother failed to appear in Juvenile Court here during jiivorce proceedings between her and her husband, Gilbert.
