GARY JEFFREY OBSERVES BIRTHDAY ANNIVERSARY A birthday dinner in honor of Gary Jeffrey, who celebrated his 12th birthday anniversary recently, was given at the home of tris parents. Mr. and Mrs. Don Jeffrey. Games were played during the afternoon and prizes awarded to the winners. The honored guest then opened Ms gifts. Helping Gary celebrate his birthday were Dale Gieberich, Leonard Rekeweg, Rolf Fuchs, Richard Bleeke, Duane Schuller, Bobby Morris, and the honored guest’s sister, Jannie. RUTH AND NAOMI CIRCLE HOLDS REGULAR MEETING A regular meeting of the members of the Ruth and Naomi Circle of the Zion Evangelical and Reformed church was held recently in the church parlor. Mrs. Tony Meyer, leader for the afternoon, opened the meeting with the group singing, “Somebody.” She read an article entitled “Everyday Miracles.” Mrs. Meyers, who is also chairman. conducted the business meeting. There were 37 sick calls and 29 social calls reported for the month. Mrs. Ed Miller, Mrs. Albert Brushwiller, and Mrs. Herman Haugh were welcomed into the circle as new members. The Mizpah benediction closed the meeting. During the social hour, refreshments were served to 24 members and two guests by the hostesses, Mrs. Clara Meyers, Mrs. James Kaker, and Mrs. Tony Meyer. A meeting of the Eagles Auxiliary officers will be held Tuesday at 8 o’clock at the home of Mrs. W. R. Morris. Guardian Angels study club members will meet at the home of Mrs. Carl Braun Thursday at 8 o’clock. 1 Thursday at 7:30 o’clock, members of the Ladies fellowship of the Decatur Missionary church will -meet-in-the church. — St. Gerard study club members will, meet Wednesday evening at 8 o’clock at the home of Mrs. Joe Loshe. Magley Ladies Aid members will meet Thursday all day in the church basement. Hostesses will be Mrs. Scherly Fruchte and Mrs. Mary WopQunan. Mr. and Mrs-Ward Bowman will be hosts to members of the Work and Win class of the Trinity Evangelical United Brethren church Friday at 7:30 o’clock. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Baker and Cecil Harvey will be assistant hosts.

MRS. GROVER CAUDLE I& GUEST AT RECENT MEETING < The January meeting of the Friendship Circle of the Decatur Missionary church was held recently at the parsonage, with 16 members and one guest, Mrs. Grover Caudle, present. The meeting opened with the president, Mrs. Arlene Gallogly, welcoming each member to the first meeting of the year. The bylaws were rea dby Mrs. Eileen Beam and copies were made available to all new members and those who requested them. Mrs. Cottie Reynolds read the 1958 business report, and several songs were sung by the group with Mrs. Marilyn Gerig providing accompaniment. Devotions were given by Mrs. Peggy Belella and she chose Psalms 34, beginning with the lift verse. She also read a tract entitled. “Broken Things.” A prayer was offered by Mrs. Millie Strahm. Mrs. May Myers was appointed to buy the baby gifts for the coming year. Folowing the close of the meeting, the remainder of the evening was spent working on a layette for a missionary family. Refreshments were served by the Mesdames Eileen Beam and Arlene Gallogly, after which Mrs. Beverly Blocker read the closing prayer. Wednesday at 8 o’clock, Our Lady of Good Counsel study club members will meet at the home of Mrs. Dick Walter. The Literature Department of the Decatur Woman's club will meet tonight at 7:45 o’clock at the home of Mrs. B. G. Thomas. ‘ The church lounge of the Methodist church will be the scene of the meeting Thursday at 7:30 o’clock, , of Everready Sunday School class ■ members. 1 An all day meeting will be held | by the members oi the Union Chapel Ladies Aid Thursday at the Church. All are urged to attend and reminded that a potluck dinned will be served at noon. Jolly Housewives Home Demonstration club members will meet Tuesday at 7:30 o’clock in the Bobo school. The Trinity E.U.B. church school will have a carry-in supper Wednesday. iF 6 o’clock. Immediately following the meal, there will be a talent show presented by the members of the church. All members and friends of the church are invited to both the meal and talent show. Thursday at 7:25 o’clock, members of the Monroe Methodist W.S.C.S. will meet in the church annex. Members are asked to bring the front page of this year's religious Christmas card. Church of God Missionary society members will meet Wednesday in the church at T'.3o o’clock. A film about the missionary work in Egypt-wilLbe shown and members are invited to attend. A regular meeting of the’mem-j bers of the Monroe rural firemen's auxiliary will be held Thursday in the Monroe town hall. The Women's Guild of the Zion Evangelical "and Reformed church Will meet at the church Wednesday evening at 7:30 o'clock. Miss Bernice Nelson and her co-workers in the welfare department will present the-program. All women of ; the church are invited to be present.

Attendance Awards Presented Sunday Pins Are Awarded At Trinity Church Members of the Trinity E.U.B. church school were presented with attendance award pins for meeting at 50 school sessions during the past year. The 92 award winners received pins during the opening service Sunday from Clifford Hoverman, superintendent, and the Rev. J. O. Penrod, pastor. The congregation was complimented for its regular attendance during 1958. The Sunday average for Trinity church school was 272 members.
