Tourney Planned In Intramural League The Lakers and Globetrotters tied for the championship of the regular season of the St. Joseph s school intramural league, which closed with games Saturday. Each team won six games and lost only one. However, a double elimination tourney to determine the championship will open next Saturday. In games closing the regular schedule Saturday, the Pistons defeated the Royals, 19-13; the Globetrotters downed the Celtics. 22-18; the Lakers whipped the Knicks, 27-13, and the Black Cats defeated the Warriors, 24-17. St. Joe, Freshmen Score Double Wins St. Joseph junior high and the Commodore freshmen won a double header from Adams Central teams Monday evening at Adams Central. St. Joseph won a 36-34 overtime victory in the opener. Adams Central led at the first quarter, 8-5, but St. Joe was on top at the half, 16-13, and at the third period, 24-16, but Adams Central battled back for a 29-29 tie at the expiration of the regular playing time. Mann, of Adams Central, led both teams with 18 points, and Kohne topped St. Joseph with 12. The Commodores freshmen led all the way to take the nightcap, 59-21. Petroleum's Scoring Ace Moves To Bluffton Petroleum high school’s loss is Bluffton high’s gain. Junior Jess Absher, 6-1 high scoring ace from Petroleum, transferred to Bluffton when his grandparents moved recently. A regular starter, Absh'r has scored 220 of his team’s total output of 750. He holds a 16.9 scoring average, outscoring his teammates in eight of the 13 games to date. He began practicing with the Bluffton Tigers Monday. Junior High, Frosh Win Double Header Decatur junior high and freshman teams swept a double header from Bluffton quintets Monday evening at the Decatur high school Junior high staged a strong fourth-quarter rally to win the opener, 38-29. Decatur led at the first quarter, 2-1, but Bluffton was in front at the half, 11-9, and at the third period, 23-21. Magley led Decatur with 11 points and Bounds was high fot> Bluffton with 10. The freshmen led at all periods to take the nightcap, 56-39. Decatur was in front at all stopping points, 14-6. 29-12. and 46-22.
