December Report On Social Security Farmers File With Income Tax Returns “Most farmers will file their social security tax along wi t h their federal income tax returns by February 15,” Christian H. W. Luecke, manager of the Fort Wayne social security office, said today, insubmitting his report for today, in submitting his report for If the gross farm income is not over SIBOO, % of the gross can be reported; if a farmer’s gross farm income is more than SIBOO, but the hpt is less than SI2OO, he may, if he wishes, report SI2OO. Landlords who, by agreement with their tenant. participate materially in the production or management of the crop or livestock are also classed as farm operators for purposes of social security. | Luecke emphasized that farmers ! should make sure that their tax returns are accurate and complete. It is important that anyone showing income subject to social security tax show his social security number both on Furm 1040 and on Schedule F. It is equally important that all proper business expenses are deducted and that the amount of the net profit be clearly reported. Tax returns are filed with internal revenue service. More detailed information is contained in a publication entitled Farmer’s Tax Guide (Publication No. 225) which can normally be obtained from the county farm agent or the internal revenue service district office. The report for December 1958 follows: Account number cards issued 636 Assistance to employers, workers, etc.— 8 New disability claims cleared 59 New OASI claims cleared 388 Beneficiaries, served j.. 1232 General inquirers served — 1469 Charge Driver With Traffic Violation A local resident was arrested by the city police last night for a traf- ■ fie violation, and is scheduled to appear in court in answer to the charge Monday. Franklin E. Liechty, 58, Decatur, was arrested by the city police department at 11:20 p.m. at the intersection of Nuttman avenue and Ninth street for disregarding a -stop sign. He will appear in mayor’s court Monday at 9 o’clock on the offense. Trade in a good town — Decatur.

You’ll find your answer in this column, which la published each Saturday.) 1. Q— l am receiving social security benefits for myself, and child's benefits for my 17-year-old daughter. I have a small job and I earn about $llOO a year. If my daughter takes a job in a drug store and earns under SIOO a month, would either she or I lose any benefits? A— No. Both you and your daughter, can each earn up to SI2OO in the calendar year and receive payments for all months that you are eligible. If your daughter’s earnings exceed SI2OO, she would lose some of her benefits but this would have no effect oa your benefits.
