Two Arrested For jReckless Driving Two Charged After Accidents Sunday Two drivers were arrested by the city police department for reckless driving following the investigation of two property damage accidents that occurred within the city Sunday. Both drivers were cited for court hearings this week. Two persons received minor ;injuries in one accident.. Harold Schieferstein, 18, route one, Decatur, was charged with reckless driving after police were caled to conduct tn investigation at 903 North Second street Sunday afternoon at 5 o’clock. The police report shows that Schieferstein Struck a building owned by Mrs. Joe Brunhegraff, of 620 Jefferson street, while headed north on Second a n d as he attempted a left turn into an alley. Police estimated $250 damages to the Schiefljrstein auto and SIOO damage to th> Brunnegraff building. Schieferstein will appear in justice of the peace court at 8 o’clock Tuesday evening. ' Stetled was charged with the reckless driving offense when police reported that Stetler’s auto hit a parked auto owned by Russell Geesey, route one. Convoy, 0., while headed south on Third street. Police estimated damages at $l5O to the Geesy auto and S2OO to the Stetler auto. Stetled will appear in justice of th& peace court Wednesday at 6 o’clock to- the charge. John Haslik, 22, Fort Wayne, arrested January 1 ajt 1:15 a.m. on U. Ainsworth, 24, Decatur, pleaded guilty today to a charge of assault and battery filed against him Thursday evening. A fine of sl6 was assessed against Ains- 1 worth for the offense. Richard J. Johnson. Fort Wayne, j was granted until February 6 for! arraignment on motion by his counsel. Johnson was arrested December 27 for driving while suspended and failing to appear on January 8 as agreed upon. I In the case of the state of Indi, ana vs Francis J. Schmitt, 65, Decatur, the defense refused to strike one of the. three names of panelists listed by the court last week to hear the ease. Traffic Death Toll Low Over Weekend Methodist Minister One Os Five Killed United Press International Indiana’s traffic death toll was low for the second week-end in a row. Accidents claimed the lives of at least five persons during the 52-hour period, including a Methodist minister. A two-car crash near Avilla Saturday killed the Rev. Robert Wall, 35, minister bf the Avilla Methodist church. Police said the accident occurred when Rev. Wall swerved to avoid an obstruction in the road and was struck by-an-other car. Donald Duane Parks, 38. Francesville, was killed early Sunday when his car plunged into a deep ditch in Pulaski County. The accident was discovered 12 hours later.*. Other accidents Saturday killed Robert Poole, 25, Alexandria, in a head-on crash north of Anderson, and Bee Jackson, 40, Indianapolis, whose car plunged into ice-cover-ed Fall Creek in Indianapolis. Mrs. Anna Parks, 32, Indianapolis, was injured fatally early Sunday when a car driven by her husband, Everett, 41, crashed into a concrete wall at ’ a T-intersection only a few feet from city police headquarters.
