the King James Version. An 84-year-old Lutheran missionary, Dr. J.M.T. Winther, had the unique distinction of being honored by two different heads of State recently. Dr. Winther retired after a lifetime of service in Japan for the United Evangelical Lutheran church, and was decorated by Emperor Hirohito on the day before ,the 60th anniversary of his first arrival in that country. He was also awarded the Knight’s Cross of Dannebrog conferred upon him by the Danish consul in the name of King Frederik of Denmark, for meritorious services rendered to further cultural ties between Japan and Denmark. ..
