COMMISSIONERS Cunttnued from page one The next meeting of the Adams county commissioners will be held Monday at the court house with the county auditor, Edward F. Jaberg. BLOWS UP IN Continued from page one The dual wheels of the transport truck disappeared. Most of the tank in which the butane blew up vanished; the fragments ripped through the crowd. The blast gouged a hole a foot deep in the asphalt under the truck. Terry County Sheriff James Fulford was peering info the truck when it exploded. But by a miracle, he escaped with minor burns. Butane is a gas, widely used for heating in rural areas, that liquifies under pressure. Hius it is carried about as a liquid and stored in tanks on forms and ranches as a liquid, but the moment it touches air, it becomes a gas. LIVING COSTS Continued from ifage one ord. The earnings were about $1.30 a week higher than in October and $3 a week higher than last year at this time. The increases resulted from higher hourly earnings and longer working time after settlement of auto strikes. In November, food prices declined .3 of 1 per cent, the fourth month in a row they have dropped. Pork, fresh fruits and eggs were down in price but beef, leg of lamb and canned luncheon meat increased slightly. Clothing prices rose .4 of 1 per cent Higher pre-Christmas prices were reported for rayon dresses, blouses, wool coats, shoe, men’s suits and topcoats. Rents were up and so were household costs. Higher charges for movie admissions and newspapers were reported. Doctors and hospitals raised fees last month to cause a .2 of 1 per cent rise in medical care prices.

State Traffic Toll Is Over 1,000 Mark Fort Wayne Woman Is Latest Victim INDIANAPOLIS (UPD — Indiana’s 1958 traffic death toll reached at least 1,002 today with new fatalities in Gary and Fort Wayne. Mrs. Belle E. Buchan, 55, Fort Wayne, died today in a hospital a few hours after her automobile went out of control on a county road west of Fort Wayne and smashed into two trees. Robert Wells, 76, Gary, died Monday night of injuries sustained in a smash-up December 14. He* was under technical arrest on charges of drunk and reckless driving, police said. A Montgomery County woman apparently became Indiana’s thousandth highway fatality Monday night. Mrs. Isa McCammack, 62, New Market, was killed when an automobile operated by her husband, Clarence, 65, went off U. S. 231 south of Crawfordsville and struck a utility pole. McCammack was hospitalized with injuries. State Police i meanwhile lopped one casualty off the traffic ros- , ter.. They said a check showed : that a victim last May credited to traffic actually died of natural) causes. But two names were added to the weekend death roster, boosting the 54-hour toll to 11. Thomas F. Goggin, 18, Terre Haute, died Monday of injuries sustained the day before when his car hit a culvert and overturned near Terre Haute. Miss Jane Badger, 35, Evansville, also was injured fatally Sunof a two-car crash at Evansville, day and died Monday a sa result The 1,000-mark had been predicted for last Thursday, December 18, exactly a month later than last year. A relatively light mid-week toll last week postponed reaching the milestone. • Il you have something to sell or rooms for rent, try a Democrat Want Ad — They bring results., Office Closed Dec. 28 to Jan. 7 Ph. 3-2517 For Appointment , Dr. H, R.
