CHRISTMAS PARTY IS HELD AT BILL PORTER HOME Mrs. Bill Porter recently entertained members of the Pinochle club with an annual Christmas party. Throughout the home, the holiday decor was predominant and on the dessert tables, small candy trees were placed. After the card session, the prizes were awarded to the M e s d a m e s Cal Magley, Lawrence Kohne, and Buford Dull. Mrs. Paul Hamond won the traveling gift. The January meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Herb Banning, who resides in the Homesteods. D.A.V. AND AUXILIARY CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS The D.A.V. and auxiliary met Friday evening at the D.A.V. hall to celebrate the coming of Christmas with a party. Several members of the organizations were present. The junior auxiliary girls sang several Christmas songs and Miss Nancy Yoder gave a recitation. All sang “Jingle Bells,” and “Rudolph The Red Nose Reindeer.” Pictures were shown after which Santa Claus made an appearance and talked with the children. He later presented each child with a treat. Refreshments were then served. LINCOLN SCHOOL P.'T.A. MEETS THURSDAY AT SCHOOL Approximately 500 people attended the Lincoln school P. T. A. Christmas program Thursday evening. Judge Myles Parrish, preside!# of the P. T. A., presided at the meeting while the Rev. B. G. Thomas, pastor of the Bethany Evangelical United Brethren church, gave the invocation. Mrs. Earl Geyer presented a Christmas meditation. The first grade chorus, the seventh grade choir, and the junior band, under the direction of Miss Helen Haubold and Clint Reed, entertained the members with Christmas music. Refreshments were served following the benediction given by Rev. Thomas. Let us process those precious holiday films. TRAILER RESIDENTS HAVE PARTY MONDAY EVENING Residents of the Highway Trailer Park met in the recreation center Monday evening at 7:30 o’clock for a Christmas party. Those attending were entertained by Darrell Gerig, accompanied by his wife, and Mike Stonestreet, who was accompanied by Charles Kestler and Harold COx. The children of the court presented a program'under the direction at Mrs.: Helen Amstutz and Miss Sunya Strahm. • Santa Clau» appeared and presented each person with a treat. A gift was presented to Dr. Harold DeVor and his wife. HOSPITAL EMPLOYES HAVE SEASONAL PARTY A Christmas party was held at the home of Mrs. Anna Borne Thursday evening for the kitchen, laundry, and cleaning Women of the Adams county memorial hospital. Games were played and prizes won by the Mesdames Miriam Sommers, Clair Drum, Anna Borne, Lola Miller, Edna Roughia, Nellie Jackson, Selma Inniger, and Miss Barbara Burk. Christmas carols were sung by the group, after which a Christmas exchange took place. Refreshments were served by the hostesses assisted by Mrs. Judy Speakman and Mrs. Phyllis Raudenbush to the Mesdames Leona Shook, Nellie Jackson, Dellia Kolter, Lolo Miller, Bertha Clark, Phoebe Miller, Edna Roughia, Clara Drum, Selma Inniger, Mirian Sommer. Leota "Connell, Bertha Zelt, and the Misses Barbara Burk and Jane Bedwell. Unable to attend were Mrs. Goldie Hilyard, Mrs. Florence Schnitz, Mrs. Mildred Miller, and Mrs. Mae Tope. Mrs. Albert Brushwiller entertained members of the Bethany Circle of the Zion Evangelical and Reformed church Monday evening with a buffet supper. Thirty two members and three guests were present for the supper which was served in a ' room appropriately decorated. Assistant hostesses were Mrs. Ruth Knapp, Mrs. Ida Miller, and Mrs. Mildred VonGunten. Members of the Methodist Junior church will have a party Saturday at 1:30 o'clock at the church. There will be a 25-cent gift exchange. -h. The St. MaryJs Blue Creek con. servation club members will hold a merchandise trap shoot Sunday at 1 o’clock at the club grounds, 1 mile west of Willshire, Ohio, on Indiana 124.

Announce Adoption Os Baby Daughter Mr. and Mrs. Enos Osterman and their son, Mike got their Christmas present early this year. After waiting several months, the Ostermans are happy to announce their adoption of a ten-week old baby daughter, Michel Joan. The new Miss Osterman; who weighs eleven pounds arrived at the Osterman home, at 604 Grant street, Monday. Five-year-old Mike, who is a student in kindergarten, is tickled with his new sister, but will still be looking for some more presents to unwrap, come Thursday morning. Teen-Council Dance Here Friday Night The annual teen-council Christmas dance will be held at the Decatur Youth and Community center Friday evening from 9 until 12 p.m. The Decatur American Legion post is furnishing the orchestra, and all county youth are invited to attend the semi-formal dance. Dr Mel Wiseman returned by plane Monday evening from Philadelphia, Pa., where he served as best man at the wedding of his brother, Larry. Everett and Marjorielu Hill Hutker of Fort Wayne, are parents of a seven pound, nine ounce girl born at 9:30 o’clock Monday evening at the Lutheran hospital in Fort Wayne. Mr. and Mrs. Everett Hutker, Sr., dnd Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Hill are the grandparents. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Busche, Freddie and Patricia, arrived Sunday from Jacksonville, 111., to spend the holidays with Mr. and Mrs. Fred Busche and friends in the Decatur and Monroe vicinity. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Brown will entertain the following people for a pre-Christmas dinner this evening, Mr. and Mrs. Gottieb Stauffer and Jack, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Roop. Mr. and Mrs. David Roop, Mrs. Elmer Scott and Marilyn, Sharon, and Denny. Mr. and Mrs. G. J. Buckley left today for Douglass, Ariz., where they expect to reside for about two months. Martin Bulmahn, Jr., is spending his Christmas vacation with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Bulmahn of route 5. He is a sophomore in the school of electronics in Kansas City, Mo. Mrs. John Peterson will spend Christmas in Detroit Mich., with her son. Riley, Kansas, is spending the holidays with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Conrad. | Teen-Agers Dances Here During Holiday Two major dances for teen-agers are planned during the holiday season at the Decatur Youth and Community Center, Richard Linn, director, announced today. The annual teen-age Christmas dance sponsored by the American Legion will be held Friday evening, Dec. 26. The semi-formal affair will start at 8:30 and end at 11:30 p. m. Wednesday, December 31, the New Year’s eve dance will be held from 9 o’clock until 12 midnight. This dance is also semi-for-mal, Linn stated.

ASC Office Closed Thursday, Friday Mary J. Howard, office manager of jhe Adams county ASC office, announces that the office will be closed December 25 and December 26 in compliance with an executive order issued by the president. Mrs. Howard states that regular hours will be observed December 29 through December 31 and January 2. Jerusalem Foresees Influx Os Pilgrims Biggest Influx In 10 Years Predicted JERUSALEM, Jordan (UPDOfficials predicted today the biggest influx of Christmas pilgrims to the Holy City in ten years. They estimated some 6,000 persons would come to the ancient city of Jerusalem for the current Western Christmas and the Greek and Armenian celebrations in January. | More than 4,00 persons were expected from the neighboring (Arab countries, Europe, the United States and South America. About 3,000 of them will cross through the Mandelbaum Gate from Israel, including foreign diplomats, members of the Christian community in Israel and Israeli Arabs who are Christians. i Jerusalem hotels, Apable of ac- ' commodating 500 persons, have been bookedup since September The Jordanian tourist department has made arrangements with many private homes and hostels to put up pilgrims. Several convents and monasteries in the old walled city have turned their dormitories into hostels for the visitors. Many stores are offering a cheerful display of toys, fir trees, Holy Land articles of olive wood, and silver, gold and mother of pearl crosses. Israeli and Arab soldiers still face each other across the border, but it has been two years since a major incident has occurred between the two forces, and officials on both sides are reported taking extra care to see that the truce remains in effect.

Children Present Program At Church Program Sunday At Union Chapel Church “The Star and the Stable” was the title of the children’s’ Christmas entertainment at the Union Chapel Evangelical United Brethren church Sunday night. Shirley Workinger gave the prelude. followed by four hymns sung by the congregation: “Noel,” “It Canje Upon a Midnight Clear,” and “Silent Night.” Miss Donna.
