Claude Striker and Jerry Hirschy with 18 and 12, respectively, led the seconds to a victory over Lancaster, also, Tuesday. The “B” team scored 46 points to the Bobcats* 39. A.CH.S. Honor roll pupils have been announced at Central for the second six-weeks period. The twenty-five high school Centralites receiving either two A's and two B’s or above are seniors: Phyllis Biberstein, Alan Habegger, Tom Heyerly, Bill Hoffman,' James Hoffman, Wanda Neuenschwander, Shirley Osterman, and Mabel Steffen; juniors: Larry Foreman, Albert Hollinger, and Delora Mishler;- sophomores: Analee Barkley, Don Germann, Luanne Hoffman, Janice Liechty, Roy Mazeline,

pictures finally arrived and were passed out today to their anxious owners. A.C.H.S. If you attended the Huntington Township-Central game Tuesday, you no doubt enjoyed an entertaining half-time performance by Central's twirlers. With the house lights out, the spotlight fell on Jeannie Smith and Sharon Mattax who started the program with a baton duet. Immediately following, in the center circle, Janis Yoder and Toni Rupert flashed on their lighted batons for a duet with lights. For a climax Arlene Zimmerman and Shirley Osterman followed in the south circle with a flashy fire baton duet. The whole program was very effective and entertaining, and the twirlerhope that everyone enjoyed it. A.C.H.S. Two basketball games are on the agenda for the Greyhounds in
the next few days. Tomorrow night the Decatur Catholic Commodores will host the Greyhounds at Decatur and the following Tuesday evening Central will entertain the Berne Bears on the Greyhounds’ home floor. The main feature of the Berne-AC game will be the crowning of the king and queen. A.C.H.S. Who is your choice for King and queen? Well only certain people will know exactly until the night of December 9 when the Cen-Trails’ King and Queen are announced at the Berne-AC game. Centralites voted last Tuesday morning from a list of all the juniors and seniors and narrowed the voting down to five girls and five boys. Those girls hoping to be crowned queen are Carol Haggard, Wanda Neuenschwander, Mary Dick, Arlene Zimmerman, seniors; and Jeannie Smith, junior. Max Egley, David
Isch, Alana Habegger, Tom Heyerly, seniors; and Larry Foreman, juniors, are the boys competing for the title of Cgn-Tralls King. The choice of the student body was a good one and one that makes it hard, as always, to determine' only one winner. Good luck to all! A.C.H.S. Thursday, November 20, the Sunshine Girls of Central journeyed to the county farm to present a program for the elderly people at the home. The program included: vocal duet, Lois Steury and Delora Mishler; vocal solo, Jeannie Kaehr; piano solo, Onalee Barkley; vocal duet, Nancy and Lois Steury; trumpet solo, Brenda Sommer; musical reading, Nancy Raudenbush; vocal quartet, Carolyn Yake, Karen Nussbaum, Nancy RaUdenbush, and Onalee Barkley. Doveanna Nussbaum, Wanda Neuenschwander, and Onalee Barkley made up the program committee.
After presenting the favors at the county farm, the girls returned to ! the home of their sponsors, Mrs. ( Rowena Stucky, for a party. The i girls responsible for the clever fa- 1 vors were Evelyn McKean, Barba- j ra Arnold, and Nancy Bercot. 5 A.C.H.S. A week ago Wednesday, during . Central’s Thanksgiving program, 1 the FFA presented paintings to the i winning home rooms for their ’ good-will basket designs. With , their black and white top hat basket, the seniors took first place. The freshman group captured second place honors. Their basket re- < presented a house. i a.c:h.s. ] For the kind people who bought < Christmas cards, wappings, rib- . bons, etc., from Central’s seniors, ' the waiting is over. V-I-C-T-O-R-Y! Such a word was an expression of euphony to Commodore fans as the Decatur Catholic basketball squad scored its first victory of the season. After three depressing de-
feats, the Commodore “five” brightened the hopes of its followers by downing the Rockcreek Dodgers with a score of 70 over the latter’s 63. Well done. Commodores! How about being responsible for histody repeating itself? —D. C. H. S — Tears of joy, however, did not last long, but gave way to sobs of sadness; for the Commodore “crew” was “shipwrecked” once again. Last Friday, the "five” reluctantly surrendered to the opposing Larwill team. Keep your chin up, boys! “Remember the Alamo!” —D. C. H. S.— December 3, the Decatur Catholic Commodores traveled to Huntington for a contest With the Huntington Catholic ball club. 'Die results of this game, however, were unknown at the time of this writing, but here’s hoping they were in favor of the DCHS Commodores. —D. C. H. S.— Tomorrow evening holds another question mark on the Commodores calendar. It is at that time that the DCHS squad is scheduled to battle the Adams Central Greyhounds on home territory. “Come on, boys; let’ er rip!” —D. C. H. S._ After experiencing a long holiday weekend, DCHS students are more than willing to have another interruption in the school’s curriculum. Because of the December 8 holy day of obligation, school doors will be closed for the day. Monday is the day set aside by the church to honor the Blessed Virgin Mary in her Immaculate Conception. Let’s make it a happy holy day, kids. —D. C. H. S.— The names of the, high school students who have been placed on the 2nd six weeks honor roll have been announced. Senior honor students include: Kathleen Baker, Dolores Kohne, Kathleen Kohne, Judith Koors, and Theresa Laurent. Juniors are: Pamela Geimer, Gerald Gillig, James Hiemann, Patricia Kintz, Susen Parrish, and Patricia Ruble.

Representing the freshmen are: Janet Baker, Sharon Baker, Steve Blythe, David Colchin,, Fred KaufK man, John Kohne, Thomas Kohne, Sharon Miller, Mary Sue Kriegel, Jeanne Lose, and Fred Zintsmaster. —D. C. H. S.— “Here comes Santa Claus!” Saturday, Santia was escorted down his lane (Winchester Street) by the Decatur Catholic high school band and the DCHS band rang out the merry tunes of Christmas. But all was not so really merry in that all but warm weather. Even the band instruments complained. Ah, but jolly old Saint Nick is supposed to be inured to freezing temperatures. —D. C. H. S._ Students of DCHS welcome a visit from John Doan, a representative of the bureau of motor vehicles in this area. Explaining the point system to seniors and some juniors, Mr. Doan pointed out that a driver is allowed only 21 points in threfl years or his license is to be suspended. Mr. Doan, who covers hearings in eight counties, showed several samples of actual impending hearings. —D. C. H. S.— Excitment poured forth from senior class members as they were informed their senior pictures were ready to be taken home. Mr. Briede, the photographer who took the pictures, had guaranteed the students the pictures would be ready before Christmas, but none expected to have them at such an early date. The seniors arc pleased with, the finished products and wish to extend their appreciation to Mr. Briede. —D. C. H. S.— Tuesday, saw senior girls taking the annual Betty Crocker test. As the test seeks to find the future homemaker of tomorrow, one girt will be selected from the group and made eligible for a scholarship. AR . senior girls participated in the examination. Good luck, girls! Sorry you can’t all win. —D. C. H. S.— John CaHson recently visited . DCHS, bringing with him a film en- . titled “This Is Exploring.” Shown ■ to all high school students, the film is a part of the recently launched . national scout movement. Boys between the ages of 14 and 18 are eligible to join the Explorers. —D. C.,H. S - Students of Decatur Catholie shared the grief from the raging Chicago fire and prayed for thos* affected by the disaster. This horrible disaster has taken the lives of at least 87 students of Our Lady of the Angels Catholic school and has brought grief to many others. Oh, God. be it done according to Thy will! —D. C. H.
