Arlene Sue Hirschy Is Married Sunday To Lee W. Sprunger The Rev. C. A. Schmid officiated ■ for the Sunday afternoon wedding of Miss Arlene Sue Hirschy to Lee! W. Sprunger, which was performed in the Cross Evangelical and Reformed church of Berne. Decorating the front of the church were altar vases of white gladiolia and bronze pompoms, palms, ferns, and seven branch candelbra. GOLD STAR MOTHERS ARE ENTERTAINED FRIDAY Gold Star mothers were entertained Friday evening by members of the American Legion auxiliary. Each mother was presented with a corsage made by the junior auxiliary girls. The president, Mrs. Joe Hunter, I introduced and welcomed the Gold Star Mothers present and Mrs. Harve Baker offered prayer. Guests were then seated at long tables I laid in white and featuring gold place cards. While the lunch was served, Mrs. Art Myer, Mrs. Margaret Raudenbush and Mrs. Wilson Beltz entertained with dinner music. Games were later played and each person received a prize. Special prizes were awarded to the Gold Star Mothers, Mrs. Ben Eiting, Mrs. Asa Pollock, Mrs. Andrew Schirack, Mrs. Leßoy Taylor and Mrs. Dorus Stalter. Hostesses for the evening were Mrs Harvey Baker, Mrs. Art Myers, Mrs. Wilson Beltz. Mrs. Frank Crist, and Mrs. Joe Kitson. Members are reminded of the auxiliary Christmas party to be held December 12, with a s(Kcentj gift exchange and pot luck supper at 6 o’clock. Each person is to bring a covered dish and her own table service. Meat, rolls, and coffee will be furnished by the auxiliary. SUSAN GERBER IS HOSTESS TO MEETING The members of the Junior Arts department and their adviser, Mrs Floyd Reed, met Monday evening at the home of Miss Susan Gerbei - A short business meeting was held, during which time plans were discussed for the general meeting of the Woman s club. January 19. The committee in charge will consist of the Misses Judy Rhodes, chairman, Betty Smith. Betsy Burk, Barb Burk, and Susan Gerber. Committee members in charge
of the next meeting, which will be held at the home of Miss Sara Gass, include Leonda Mies, Marie ' Tricker, Janice Auman, Carolyn * Taylor, and Sara Eichenauer. It ' was decided that the Junior Arts ‘ members would help the Junior Women in a community ptoject. 1 Following the business meeting, Mrs. Cecilia Cramer of Monroe, . showed different ways to decorate , Christmas candles. Later, two of ( the candles were presented to , Gloria Wall and Cassie Strickler . as door prizes. Refreshments were served by the hostess assisted by Connie Baxter, Ann Kocher, Marceda Whetstone and Taya Erekson. ' I NOVEMBER MEETING IS HELD AT MOOSE HOME Members of the Academy of Friendship met at the Moose home for their November meeting. Chairman for the event, Mrs. Francis Knox, called the meeting to order, after which the collect was repeated followed by roll call and minutes of the October meeting. Routine business was discussed and members are asked to rej member the Christmas party which ■ will be held at the Moose home December 15 at 6 o'clock. There will be a potluck supper and a 50 (cent gift exchange. Revealment of the academy pals will also take place. The meeting was closed with the members singing the friendship song and repeating the benediction. The hostesses, Mrs. Marcella Loshe, Mrs. Marvin Stoutenberry, Mrs. William Huffman, and Mrs. Georgia Spangler, were in charge of the social hour. Mrs. Bert Haley. Mrs. Dallas Brown, and Mrs. Ernest Worthman were declared winners in a contest held. Later, refreshments were served to 14 members and one guest. OFFICERS ARE ELECTED AT C. L. of C. MEETING A combined social and business meeting was held recently for , members of the Catholic Ladies of Columbia. A pot-luck supper was served and the remainder of the evening was spent playing cards and electing officers. ! During the business session, of- ■ ficers for 1959 were elected. Mrs. | James Murphy, Jr. is the new president. and serving under her (will be Mrs. William Kohne, vice i president; Mrs. Mary Catherine Spangler, treasurer; Miss Edith Ervin, financial secretary; Miss Rosemary Miller, recording secretary; Mrs. Elmo Lengerich, monitor. Mrs. Lewis Rumschlag. inner guard; Mrs. Anselm Hackman. Mrs. Andrew Foos, and Mrs. Herman Heimann, trustees. The officers will be installed at the January meeting. . The annual Christmas party will be held December 16. with a fiftycent gift exchange. MAGLEY GIRLS GUILD MEETS WITH JEAN KOLTER The November meeting of the Magley Girls guild was held recently at the home of Jean Kolter. The meeting was opened with scripture; Matthew 5, verses 13-16, read by Linda Kruetzman. The lesson on the Greek Orthodox and Protestant Episcopal religions was givep by program leader. Lila Kruetzman. The meeting was closed with everyone repeating the "Lord’s Prayer.” During the business meeting immediately following, the new officers for 1959 were elected. 4 Miss Nancy Frank Is Thanksgiving Bride Os William Kershner Palms and candelabra graced the front of the Decatur Church of j God for the Thanksgiving evening double ring ceremony which united in marriage. Miss Nancy Frank > and William Duane Kershner. Of-1 ficating for the 6:30 o’clock cere-1 mony, was the Rev. Huston Sever. Jr. Preceding the ceremony, nuptial i music was provided by Mrs. Oscar Geisel organist, and Larry Geisel, vocalist. Included in the vocal selections wete “0 Promise Me” ard “The Lord's Prayer.” Mrs. Geisel chose among her selections, a "Wedding Prayer" and Clair DeLune.” Mr. and Mrs. Charles Frank of route 5. are parents of the bride, i and the bridegroom is the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Kershner of route 4. Wearing a gown of chantilly lace over satin, the bride was given in marriage by her father. The fitted bodice featured a modified mandarine neckline and long tapered sleeves. An insert of tujle ruffles, ' beautified the bouffant skirt which j swept into a chapel train. A jewelled headpiece of matching lace j held her fingertip veil and she dar- ■ tied a white Bible topped witjr an orchid which was streamers* with satin ribbons. Miss Diana Jean Kershner, sister of the bridegroom, was maid of honor in a silk cromspun crystellete gown of peacock blue. The bodice was styled with a scooped neckline and small sleeves. A bow hung from the back of the dress. To complete her ensemble, she wore a matching bow headpiece and carried shrimp chrysanthemums in a colonial arrangement. Mrs. Donald Bailey, sister of the bride, served as the bridesmaid. She wore a gown styled like that of the honor attendant, only in shrimp pink. She wore a headpiece to complement her gown and carried peacock blue chrysanthemums. Clifford Hakey and James Fisher, friends of the bridegroom, were best man and groomsman, respectively. Ushering the guests were Kenneth Frank, brother of the bride, and Darrell Dennis, cousin of the bridegroom. All men of

Mrs. Frank selected a navy blue silk dress with black and white acI cessories and a red rose corsage for her daughter's wedding. A powder blue rayon and silk dress I with black accessories and a red ! rose corsage were worn by the I mother of the bridegroom, 1 Mrs. Alice Jeffery, Mrs. Lena Kershner, Mrs. Mattie Buffenbarger, and Mrs. Noah Blowers grandmothers of the couple, were present and wore white carjjation i corsages. Serving at a reception held for 200 guests in the fellowship hall, were the Mesdames Donald Cline, Alan Miller. Helen Pollock, Richard Miller, and Miss Susan Frank and Miss Cassie Strfckler. Table decorations centered around the four tier wedding cake. Peacock blue and shrimp colors were used throughout the serving area. For a southern honeymoon, the new Mrs. Kershner changed to a matching gray skirt and jacket. With is she wore black accessories .' and the orchid from her bridal bouquet. Both of the couple are recent graduates of Adams Central high school, and the bride is employed by Lincoln' National Life Insurance company in Fort Wayne. The bridegroom is employed by Converse Ford Tractor Sales on highway 27. Future address of the couple is 903 Dierkes street.
