South Side Archers Handed First Loss INDIANAPOLIS (UPI) — East Chicago Washington and Michigan City, regarded as two of the best in the far north, lived up to their Indiana high school basketball reputations with easy-open-ing-season victories on Thanksgiving eve. But state champion Fort Waytte South is starting all over again. While East Chicago’s Senators mauled South Bend Riley, 89-45, and Michigan City dumped Hammond Tech, 93-53, South Side’s 21game winning streak was clipped at Southport, 47-42.
