Schurger, first field representative for Adams county and board members, (deceased). The two deceased founders were both from Adams county. The organization founded during the depression days has developed into one of the leading associations in the United States. The local association ranks sixth in the nation for total members served out of 497 associations. At the present time, Laroy Cobbum, of Wells county, is the field representative for Adams-Wells counties. STUDEBAKER Continued from page one haven’t heard anything.” The strike began Monday after the union rejected a company offer of a 2-cent hourly wage raise duting each quarter of 1959, if the company sold at least 30,000 cars each quarter. No meetings have been scheduled on a new contract to end-thq strike. • The old contract expired Aug. 30, and production continued on a working agreement. The union has demanded a 28cent hourly raise during a threeyear period. Churchill hinted in the advertisement that UAW me mb e r s would get wage boosts later if they would return to work now. “To survive,” Churchill said, “we must earn a place in the market by building a fine automobile at competitive prices. That means our costs must stay down. “The time to eat the pie is after it is baked, not before.” He presumably referred to production of the new “lark,” a small car with models selling below $2,000. Company spokesmen indicated they had planned to increase production to meet consumer demands the day the strike started. This list was obtained from old order books in the clerk’s office. Names of lawyers in the 40 s and 50’s as well as during the past 50 years and the present bar associa~t tion were given by Judge Parrish. I He stated that two of the present . lawyers. Judge Earl B.
