Renewals may be obtained, however, and other business will be held as usual. Glenn Curtis Is Dead After Long Illness INDIANAPOLIS (UPlT—Glenn Curtis, 64, an all-time great in Indiana coaching ranks who piloted four teams to state high school basketball championships, died today in Robert Long Hospital following a lingering illness. Curtis was hospitalized Nov. 11 in critical condition. He suffered two strokes within the last year and had a stomach ailment. The body was taken to Martinsville, where Curtis saddled three state champs, in 1924, 1927 and 1933. He also coached a state champion at Lebanon in 1917-18. Curtis' coaching career also included the college and professional world. After enjoying his Brother of Herb Curtis Glenn Curtis was a brother of the late Herb Curtis, who was head basketball coach at Decatur high school for a number of years. Herb Curtis left Decatur to become principal at Southport high school after leaving active teaching, became a school supply salesman. tational tourney at Chicago. Later, Curtis became coach of the professional Indianapolis Kautskys but he quit in mid-season. His entire coaching record included 663 victories against only 187 setbacks for a nifty .778 average. At Martinsville, he led the Artesians to 15 sectional and 12 regional tourney crowns. His 1926 and 1928 Martinsville teams were runners-up in the state finals. Curtis returned to Martinsville in 1948, first as acting superintendent of the city educational system. Later, he was named city superintendent of schools. He retired in July, 1957, and with relatives raised Christmas trees in Morgan and Monroe Counties. His professional coaching career also included stints With Detroit in the old Basketball Assn, of America. He also coached Indiana’s high school "All Stars” in their mid-summer clash against Kentucky.

Tabs Boyd-Rivers Fight A Natural •FORT WAYNE—Stan Goldberg, chairman of the Indiana State Athletic Commission, has termed the middleweight bout between Chicago’s Bobby Boyd and Las Vegas* Neal Rivers a “natural.” The 10round fight is slated Saturday night in Fort Wayne’s Coliseum, with the first of five preliminary bouts starting at 8:30 p. m. CDT. “I’ve seen both Boyd and Rivers fight,” Goldberg said today. ’ They make a perfect match and we should see a fight that will top the Mims-Webb scrap." Holly Mims upset Spider Webb in another important middleweight bout, held last March 12 in Fort Wayne. Goldberg and other members of the commission will be at ringside Saturday night.
