Sharp Miss Kathleen Ann Boerger, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hugo Boerger of route 3, Decatur, and Howard Lowell Sharp, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Sharp of route 3, Hartford City, exchanged double ring vows Sunday evening before the Rev. F. W. Droegemueller in the St. Peter’s Lutheran church. Candelabra, palms and beauty vases of white pompons and mums formed the setting and nuptial music was presented by Mrs. Fred Fruchte, organist, and Mrs. Jerry Kirkwood, vocalitst. Wearing a gown of chantilly lace over taffeta. Miss Boerger was given in marriage by her father. The moulded bodice was fashioned with a scoop, neckline accented with flowerlett appliques and long fitted sleeves tapering to points over her hands. Her very full skirt I formed many tiers of ruffles in the | back and fell to a brush train. A I ruffled lace cap held her fingertip veil of-illusion and she carried a! bouquet of white roses centered with an orchid. Mr s. Franklin...Buuck, - Miss J anice Busick and Miss Alice Kukelhan served as matron of honor and bridesmaids respectively. They selected crystal satin gowns in alternating colors of mint and J evergreen. A V neckline and cap sleeves outlined the prlness bodice ,

Matching pearl necklaces and earrings, a gift of the bride, ' were worn by the attendants. • Little Miss Cynthia Sharp, niece ‘ of the bridegroom, attended as the - flower girl and appeared in a gold taffeta dress. Mrs. Boerger apeared in a beige wool dress with a corsage of pink roses and Mrs. Sharp selected a royal blue dress with a pink rose corsage. 1A reception was held folowing the ceremony at the Hayloft in Hoagland with Miss Shirley Workirger, Miss Carol Hamilton, Miss Georginanna Wiese, Miss Marva | Schaufer, and Mrs. Leslie Putman serving. The serving table was I covered with a lace table cloth | and centered with a large wedding i j cake. 1 For a southern honeymoon, the i new Mrs. Sharp choose a beige i dress with royal blue accessories. ‘ The bride graduated from Mon- I mouth high school hnd the bride- 1 groom, a graduate of Roll high 1 school, is engaged in farming. COMMITTEEES APPOINTED BY NEW PRESIDENT The Union township Home Demonstration club met at the home of Mrs. Chalmer Barkley recently, with Mrs. Margie Shaffer as assisting hostess. Mrs. Rolland Gilliom, president, opened the meeting by reading a poem “In November,” after which Mrs. Nile Williamson led- the group in • prayer. Mrs. ; Barkley had charge of the roll call and members answered by telling of something for which they were thankful. The lesson on mental health was given by Mrs. Paul Morgan. Mrs. Fred Marbach had charge of the citizenship lesson. Following group singing, Mrs. Archie read a poem. Announcements were made by the president and included in them was the date of the officers training school which will be held December 3 at the Decatur Youth and Community Center. The Christmas party will be held December 30 with an all day meeting at the home of Mrs. Ivan Barkley. There will be a carry-in dinner at noon. Assisting hostesses? will be Mrs. Nellie Price and Mrs. Fred Marbach. Each member is to bring a 50-cent gift for the exchange. President for next year. Mrs. Hugh Nidlinger, appointed the following committees: book, Mrs. Ivan Barkley, Mrs. Uhalmer Barkley. Refreshments were served at the end of the meeting to 17 members and three children.
TWENTY ONE ATTEND CIRCLE MEETING One new member, Mrs. Howard Elzey, and one guest, Mrs. David Zimmerman, were present at the November meeting of the Friendship Circle of the Decatur MissionI ary church making a total of 21 persons present for the meeting held at the home of Mrs. Lester Strahm Friday evening. The meeting opened with the reading of an article entitled “Thanksgiving Early This Year.”, President. Mrs. Lawrence Gallogly, was the reader. Mrs. Norris Blocker was in Charge of the devotions and she read an article taken from the “Missionary Worker” I written by the denominational president, Mrs. Tillman Habegger. Prayer was offered by Mrs. David Zimmerman. During the business meeting, members decided that they would gather a Thanksgiving basket for a needy family this year. During the course of the business meeting, officers for the coming year were elected. Mrs. Lawrence Gallogly will serve the year as president and Mrs. Eugene Beam will be vice president. The combined duties of secretary and treasurer will be handled by Mrs. Donald Sprunger and her assistant, Mrs. Edward Summers. Mrs. Darrell Gerig is the news reporter and her assistant is Mrs. Virgil Bixler. The remainder of the evening was spent working on a layette being prepared by the Circle. Closing prayer was given by Mrs. Kent Von Gunten and refreshments were served by Mrs. Lester Strahm and , Mrs. Darrell Gerig. IKIMSEY SCHOOL IS ' SCENE OF MEETING The Kimsey school was the scene of the Thursday meeting of the members of the Friendship Village Home Demonstration club.!-Attend-ed by 26 members, four visitors and three children, the members had as hostesses Mrs. Oscar Young. Mrs. Lawrence Carver. Mrs. Chester Bryan and Mrs. Floyd Meyers. President. Mrs. Carl Schug, opened the meeting with all members ■ repeating the club creed. For de- j devotions, Mrs. Lula Raudenbush j read Psalms 147 using verses one I through nine. She also read a poem entitled “Thanksgiving” and gave a reading on the- beginning of November. Miss Donelda Marckel directed the group singing and the club prayer. A lesson on mental health for adults was presented by Mrs. j Charles Burkhart. Mrs. Oscar Young gave the health and safety lesson Roll call and minutes of the last meeting were reported by Mrs. Lester Sipe and the club constitution of Adams county was read by the members of the club. Mrs. Charles Shoaf read the home demonstration club bylaws. The Christmas meeting will be held in the basement of the Union Chapel Evangelical United Brethren church with an installation of officers at that time. Miss Donelda Marckel gave the financial report and later, a birthday auction was held with Mrs. Glen Schaadt in charge. MRS. TFRONA FLOYD IS HOSTESS TO W.C.T.U. Monroe Women’s Christian Temperance Union members met at the home of Mrs. Tfrona Floyd recently. To open the meeting, all members sang "The Haven of Rest” and “Wonderful." Devotions from the 92nd Psalm were given by Mrs. William Butcher. Following a prayer by Mrs. Otto Longenberger, a treasurer's report was given by Mrs. John Gage. Business was conducted by Mrs Orval Lenhart, who is the president. Favors were made for the patients’ trays at the hospital and delivered. A report from the W.C.T.U. state convention which was held at Warsaw recently was given at the meeting and it included the resolutions set forth by the organization. Among them are the fact that the members believe it would be wise that text books in public schools regarding alcohol and other narcotics be from a standpoint of total abstinence, and that it be presented only by those adequately trained. The group also feels that a chemical test for drinking drivers should be given and that alcoholic beverages not be served on planes. A fourth resolution is that advertising of alcoholic beverages should be banned.
INSTALLATION IS HELD AT THURSDAY MEETING The installation of next year’s officers was the main feature of the Thursday meeting of the members of the Merrier Mondays home demonstration club who met at the home of Mrs. Richard Conrad. Installing officer was Mrs. Bob Mitchel. First on the program was the lesson given by Mrs. Dale Fruchte. She used as her subject, mental health. Roll call was answered by the members telling somthing for which they were thankful. Devotions were given by Mrs. Shirley Hurst and Mrs. Alice Baxter, after which the group sang “For The Beauty of the Earth.” A health and safety lesson oh fires was given by Mrs. Irvin Worthman. Following the installation of officers. refreshments were served by the hostess, assisted by Mrs. Gene Hurst. Next month’s meeting will be a pot luck supper and party at the home of Mrs. Leroy Kolter December 16.
A general meeting of all departments iof the Decatur Woman’s club will be held tonight at 8 o'clock at the Decatur Youth Center. Mrs. Elmer Becher of Woodburn will be the featured speaker and she will show slides which ‘she took on her trip around the world. All members are urged to attend. All members of the Gals and Pals Square Dance club are asked to note that due to Thanksgiving, thb regularly scheduled dance will be postponed one week and will be held at the Community Center beginning at 8 o’clock. The Gold Star Mothers party will be held Friday evening at 7:30 o’clock by the American Legion auxiliary. All gold star mothers are invited to attend the social meeting, which will be held at the Legion hall. Members' of the Flo Kan Sunshine Girls will meet tonight at the Moose home. All members are asked to attend. Enroute they will stop at Baton Rouge, La., for an over Thanksgiving visit with Dr. and Mrs. C. M. Neher.
