I Mrs. Debbie Powers, 26, accompanied her husband of nearly i seven months on the journey from Spain where he died last I Saturday. She was ...pale and sobj bing uncontrollably as she left 'the plane here and hurried to a ‘ limousine several feet away without talking to reporters. Power’s body in a canvass- ! wrapped silver casket Was re- ! moved from the plane several Jjninutes after his widow left and taken to a mortuary. The 44-year-old star who appeared to be surrounded by as much turmoil in death as during his restless life will be buried in a crypt near the resting place of , Rudolph Valentino at Hollywood , Memorial Park Cemetery. Fears Emotional Scene ,I Miss Christian,, his second wife and mother of his two daughters, Taryn, 5, and Romma Francesca. ,! 8, bitterly bowed to Mrs. Power’s '! request that she and the children 1 stay away from the funeral because their presence “might result in an emotional scene such as has occurred at recent funerals of other prominent persons.” Power's first wife. French actress Ann Carpentier known professionally as Annabella, said at her Paris home she would not attend the funeral services either.! His 70-year-old mother, Patia i Power, also will not attend the ' funeral. She has not been told of i her son's death because it was! . feared the shock would be too great for the elderly woman who ■i is in ill health. Request Stuns Linda Miss Christian, at first stunned by Mrs. Power’s request, bitterly retorted: “It is difficult to believe that any woman Tyrone would marry would have such an inhuman streak.” Miss Christian said she told the two young daughters Wednesday [that their father was dead. "We have no daddy now,” was i their only reply, she said. They did not cry although they seemed thoughtful after learning the tragic news. Power, baptized a Roman Catholic, probably will not be ■ buried in that faith because of ' his marriage to a divorcee, which automatically caused his excom- ’ mugication. > •• , ~ ■ Kit SMHIHIHM*}
