LOCAL WOMEN Attend workshop Three local members of the Junior Women’s club attended the Indiana Federation of clubs junior workshop which was Meld Saturday at the Hotel Elkhart in Elkhart. Attending were Miss Carpi Elzey, Mrs. Roger Blackburn, dnd Mrs. Floyd Reed. Hostess club fi>r the occassion was the Elkhart .Junior Woman’s club. I Registration started at 9 o’clock dnd later coffee and rolls were served to the delegates who came from every part of Indiana. Mrs. Eugene R u 1 e y, junior director from Lowell, presided over the meeting which was opened with the pledge of allegiance, club collect, and wecome given by the Elkhart club. Devotions, roll call, and the introduction of guests were next on the program. Guests receiving recognition were Mrs. Oscar Brizius, president of the Indiana Federation of clubs, Mrs. C. R. Graham, first vice president, and Mrs. Leo Curtis, director of junior clubs for the general federation of Women's club.

Further business was transacted and included the reading of the minutes and the treasurer’s report as well as a reading of correspondence received. Later, reports were given by the state junior officers and department chairman. Mrs. Reed, who is state communications chairman, with the aid of Mrs. Blackburn, presented a question and answer type report on her department. A noon lunchen was served, after which a workshop session was held. A film on retarted children was shown and explained to the group. Besides the retarted children. other projects of the organization are stamps for wounded veterans, penny art fund which furnishes a $250 scholorship, Latin American Fellowship which provides a $1,200 scholorship fora Latin American student, and aid to the Philippines which sends sewing and medical equipment through CARE. To close the all day session, members re peated the Junior pledge and the meeting was adjourned.
MRS. JOE HUNTER PRESIDES AT MEETING Mrs. Joe Hunter presided over the regular business meeting of the Adams Unit number 43 of the American Legion Auxiliary members who met at the Legion home. A report on education and scholarship was given by Mrs. Charles , Chew, and Mrs. Herman Dierkes stated that the Hoosier Girls State will be held in June. Mrs. Anola Chist made a motion that two representives from Decatur be sent. Twenty five dollars will be sent for gifts to the V. A. hospital, Mrs. Adrian Baker reported. Plans were made for the Christmas party which will be held December 14 at the Legion home. A I motion was made by Mrs. Ralph i Roop that the party be a pot luck dinner with a 50-cent gift exchange. Following -the singing of the hymn and song of the month led by'Mrs. Arthur Meyers, a memorial service was held in honor of Mrs. Victoria Burke. Before the meeting was adjourned with the retiring of the flags. Mrs. Harve Baker announced that a Gold star mother's party will be held on social night. CARRY-IN SUPPER IS SERVED RECENTLY Members of the Bethany Builders class of the Bethany Evangelical United Brethren church met recently in the church basement for a carry-in dinner. The meal was served from tables which were [decorated with a fall theme. During the business meeting, j new officers for 1959 were elected. met at the home of Mrs. Leo King. Sr., recently, for their November meeting. After the meeting had been opened with the group singing “Blest Be the Tie That Binds," Mrs. Milton Fuhrman led the devotions. Presenting the lesson on “human rights and human needs' was Mrs. Roger Singleton. Mrs. Earl G. Fuhrman, president. was in charge of the business session. It was learned that the members had made several sick calls and sent flowers and cards during the past month. The secretary and treasurer’s reports were read and approved and a study course to be taken up later was discussed. Mrs. King served refreshments during the social hour to ten members and their children. A meeting of the members of the Zion Lutheran Emmaus Guild will be held Wednesday at 8 o’clock in the parish hall. A panel discussion on rearing children will be held with a pastor, teacher, mother and father taking part. The meeting of the members of the Past Matrons club will be held Thursday evening at 7:30 o’clock at the home of Mrs. Dan Tyndall. Assisting hostesses are Mrs. R. D. Myers, Mrs. John W. Tyndall, and Mrs. Weldon Stuckey. Thursday, a meeting of the Friendship Village. Home Demonstration club will be held at 1:30 o'clock at the Kimsey school. Members are reminded that there will be an auction at this meeting. The members of the Catholic Ladies of Columbia will have a business and social meeting at the C. L. of C. hall Tuesday at 6:30 o'clock. It will be a pot luck supper and the committee will furnish the meat and rolls. The C. L. of C. hall will be the Scene of the Wednesday meeting of the members of the St. Vincent de Paul society. Meeting at 2 o'clock, members will have Mrs. T. J. Metzler as chairman. An afternoon meeting of the members of the Zion Lutheran Needle club will be held Thursday at 1:30 o’clock at the parish hall An election of officers will be held.

The dou-j ble ring ceremony was performed • by the Rev. Louis C. Minsterman in the St. Luke Evangelical and Reformed church that evening at 6:30 o'clock. Parents of the couple are Mrs. Seth D. Zimmerman, route one, Monroe, and Mr. and Mrs, Otto Hoffman, route four, Decatur. Preceding the ceremony, Mrs. Earl Harmon, organist, presented} a 15-minute musicale including, “I Love You Truly," "Ah, Sweet Mystery of Life,” and “I Love Thee." Mrs. Glen Habegger. vocalist, sang "Oh Promise Me,” "Because,” and! at the closing of the ceremony,} "The Lord’s Prayer.” White satin pew bows and the I traditional white carpet led the i way to the altar for the btide and ■ her brother, Glen Zimmerman, who gave her in marriage. Patricia Hoffman Married Saturday To Charles Judt The marriage of Miss Patricia ■ Jean Hoffman to Charles Willis Judt was solemnized Saturday evening in the Antioch Lutheran church of Hoagland, with the Rev. . Robert Whiteneck reading the doui ble ring vows. Candelabra hnd I floor vases of mixed flowers formed the setting for the 6:30 o’clock ceremony and background music was provided by Mrs. Ruth Brown, organist, and Gene Brown, vocalist. « Mr. and Mrs. Glen Hoffman of Hoagland are parents of the bride and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Judt of Decatur. Escorted to the altar by her fathi er, Miss Hoffman selected a gown iof chantilly lace and nylon tulle over crystal white taffeta. The fitted lace bodice was detailed with a scalloped scoop neckline and long lace sleeves. Her very bouffant floor length skirt of tulle, was highlighted by large motifs of lace edged in tulle rushings. A matching clip trimmed with seed pearls, held her fingertip veil of French, sion, and she carried an orchid atop a white Bible. Attending as maid of honor was Miss Lorraine Haugk. She wore an aqua princess style dress of tafifeta. A portrait neckline was the ; feature of the bodice and topping } her full skirt was a velvet cumberbund with a large taffeta bow and sash. To complete her ensemble, she wore a white leather headband with an aqua nose length veil and carried an aqua velvet muff with a corsage of,white carnations. Miss Sharon and Miss Marilyn Scott, cousins of the bride, served as bridesmaids and appeared in gowns identical to the honor attendant orily in flame red 1 . They wore matching headpieces and carried red muffs topped with white car"ations. Miss Sheila Guenin Tacted as flower girl and wore a gown similar to the other attendants.
