McMillen, Jr. The 590 employes of the Decatur Central Soya company plant, and their wives or husbands, have been invited to attend a meeting at the Decatur Youth and Community Center at 7:30 p. m. Friday to hear H. W. McMillen, chairman of the board, and D. W McMillen, Jr., president of the company, present the highlights of the company's operations this past year. Topics to be reviewed are the 1958 annual report, the new products produced by the company, the new processes licensed in the United States and Europe by the company, the new buildings and facilities constructed, the new sales division, new districts, phemurgy division acquisition, and the importance of sound growth for the future. Following the discussion, a question and answer period will follow. The program is the result of keen interest by the employes in their jobs and the progress of the company. This report by the president and chairman of the board will afford a better insight to the overall operations of the company and answer questions that may result.
Slight Jobless Pay Decrease In State Slight Drop Shown * During Past Week Indianapolis <upd — The Indiana Employement Security Division said today a total of 55.391 Hoosiers filed for unemployment benefits last week, a small drop from the previous week. Division director William Stalnaker said there were 44.407 claims for regular benefits and the rest came from persons receiving extended benefits. There was an increase of 729 in claims from persons who had just lost thpir jobs making that figure go up to 7.169 last w’eek. A total of 641 were from former servicemen who filed for the first time under a new unemployment insurance program. Youths From County To Attend Concerts Initial Concart On Saturday Morning Several young people from Adams county are planning to attend the young people’s concerts during the 1958-59 season with the first concert to be held Saturday at 10:30 o’clock at the Embassy theater. Clint Reed, Decatur school band director, said today. The concerts are sponsored annually by the Fort Wayne Philharmonic orchestra, under the direction of Igor Buketoff, one of the country's outstanding conductors of young people’s concerts. The first concert planned for Saturday at the Embassy theater will consist of the "Carnival of the Animals" with humorous lyrics by Ogden Nash. Buketoff and the orchestra will again perform a mystery selection for the art contest. The second concert will be held February 14 and will feature a trip around the world with engineer John escorting the group of youngsters on the excursion. The orchestra will play musical descriptions of various means of transportation. The artist, James Mcßride, will be on the stage to illustrate several of the musical selections to be performed; and the audience will be taken for rides on a mule, ox-cart, troika, boat, and train. The third concert will feature Cactus Jack on a trip to a western ranch, describing a' typical day, around the clock, at a real ranch out west. One of the orchestra numbers to be played on this program will be conducted by a youth guest to be chosen from the schools of the area; and eleven-year-old Tommy Lee Harmon, a student fpom Angola, will appear as clarinet soloist. Each ticket-holder will receive a badge of membership, a Phil Hor-j monic, Jr. button. Additional young people wishing ! to join from Adams county and between the third and eighth grades are asked to contact Clint Reed by Friday. Tickets for the! season are $1 for the children and ; $1.25 for the adults.

I R I • State Traffic Toll 839 Through Sunday INDIANAPOLIS (UPD — Indiana's 1958 traffic death toll through last Sunday midnight was 104 less than the total for the same period last year, Indiana State Police provisional figures showed today. This year's deaths went up to 839 last week as 22 persons died in Hoosier traffic. Ten of the new deaths came during the 54-hour weekend. 18 Women Win Seats In 86th Congress Four New Ladies In Congress Next Year WASHINGTON (UPI) —The ladies, bless ’em, appeared today to have set a record for getting members of their sex into Congress. Barring an unexpected switch in a, California House race, the 86th Congress will have 18 women, including 17 representatives and the veteran Sen. Margaret Chase Smith (R-Maine>. The previous high was 17 in 1954. This despite the fact that two members of the distaff side. Reps. Coya Knutson (D-Minn.) and Mrs. Cecil Harden <R-Ind.», lost their jobs in Tuesday’s elections. New Poultry House Open To Inspection Something new in the way of a poultry house will be opened to public inspection this weekend at the Oscar Heller farm, north of Yost gravel pit on the Winchester road. It is known as a tempered-air-egg-o-torium. a specially built structure with portable slatted flooring to prevent litter on the floor and with vents, intake and exhaust to permit flow of air thermostatically controlled. Automatic feeders and automatic waterers insure constant feed and water for the bens. Rollaway nests built along one side of the henhouse insure clean eggs, cooled immediately after they are laid. The egg-o-torium on the Heller farm is a structure 36 by 128 feet to provide for 3500 laying hens. It was built for Heller under the vitality control program, for marketing of commercial eggs, Ray Heller, of Heller Tem-pered-Air Egg-O-Torium, said. Discuss Problems Os Stale Assembly Several Members Defeated Tuesday INDIAN APOUS (UPI I — The 12 - member Indiana Legislative Advisory Commission will meet at the Statehouse Monday to hear discussions of problems which face the 1959 Legislature. Three of the Republican members were defeated in Tuesday's election but will remain on the commission until the new General Assembly convenes in January. They are Sen. Dorothy Gardner of Fort Wayne and Reps. Court Rollins of Muncie and Oren E. Felton of Fairmount.' Another member, Rep. Jesse Dickinson (D-South Bend), won election to the Senate and Rep. Robert S. Webb (R-Arcadia) lost out in his bid for election to the Indiana Appellate Court. Rep. Walter H. Maheling (DTerre Haute), and Sens. Ruel W Steele (R-Bedford) and Von A. Eichhorn (D-Uniondale> won reelection and Sens. D. Russell Bontrager (R-Elkhart) and Eugene Bainbridge iD-Munster) were holdover incumbents. Former House Speaker George Diener (R-Indianapolis) took a position as vice president of Butler University and did not run for re-election. The 12th member of the commission is Lt. Gov. Crawford Parker. Man Fined Here For Public Intoxication The Decatur city police department arrested a man for public intoxication at 12:30 am. todayin the 109 block of North Second street and placed him in the Adams county jail to await trial in mayor’s court. Micheal Henry Brown, 38, St. i Paul, Minn., appeared in court ■ and received a fine of sl6 this 1 morning.

79 To 21 Democratic State House Margin INDIANAPOLIS (UPI) - A complete reverse in Tuesday’s election found Democrats in 79 seals in the 1959 Indiana House looking down on a mere 21 Republicans. In 1957 the break-down was 75 Republican state representatives and only 24 Democrats. The state Senate race as Democrats cut their deficit to 27-23 compared to 33-17 in 1957.
