Northwestern And Wisconsin Meet Saturday High - flying Northwestern and powerful Wisconsin girded today for the Big Ten’s “game of the week,” a contest that will jolt the loser from any dreams of Rose Bowl glory. The Wildcats, a pre-season pick to grace the Big Ten basement, currently rest in the second place with three wins and one loss, including last Saturday’s 21-0 astonisher over defending conference, champion Ohio State. At Evanston’s uyche Stadium, two starters sat out Tuesday’s defensive drills with minor injuries suffered in the OSU game. Fullback Mike Stock nursed an ankle injury, while halfback Willmer Fowler hoped a slight shoulder separation would heal in time for Saturday’s game. Juggle lowa Line At Madison, Coach Milt Bruhn ran his padless players through light drills while reporting he would hold contact work to a minimum this week. Bruhn said there was a fair chance that Sid Williams and Bob Zeman, injured last week, would be available to face Northwestern, which he said “may very readily be- the toughest offensive team we have faced this season.” lowa Coach Forrest Evashevski juggled his starting line in preparation for Minnesota. The Hawkeyes, unbeaten and untied in Big Ten play so far and the UPI national leader, are heavily favored to trounce the Winless Gophers. Evashevski elevated right guard Hugh Drake to the spot formerly held by Don Shipanik and replaced center Lloyd Humphries with Bill Lapham. Irish Prepare for Pitt Purdue’s third place squad staged a vicious defensive scrimmage Tuesday in anticipation of Saturday's game at Columbus against the crushing Ohio State offense. Purdue, with two wins and one defeat, ranks just above Wisconsin, which has notched a similar record with a tie thrown in. Coach Jack Mollenkopf said he hoped starting fullback Bob Jarus and first string halfback Clyde Washington would recover from injuries suffered last week against Illinois in time for the OSU contest. inn nractice session as the Irish prepared for highly rated Pitt. Brennan said tackle Bronko Nagurski Jr. will be forced to sit out the Pitt game with a knee injury suffered two weeks ago against Purdue. However, Brennan looked forward to the return of guard Jim Schaaf, on the sick list since the Duke game early in the season. MacPhail Orioles General Manager BALTIMORE. Md.
