DEMOCRAT (Continued from D<»e one) The House is divided 232 Democrats, 195 Republicans and eight vacancies. Alcorn named no states as the locale for upsets. Smathers said his party had its best chances to diplace Republican senators in Connecticut, New York, West Virginia (two seats), Michifan, Indiana, Minnesota, Wyoming, Wisconsin, Califoria, Arizona and Nevada. Although Democrat Frank Hogan mght win the senatorial race in New York over Rep. Kenneth B.'Keating, that state still provided the GOP with at least one bright spot in an otherwise gloomy picture.
